LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - After much delay, Summit Entertainment has finally announced Jodie Foster-directed film The Beaver, co-starring Mel Gibson, will be released in Spring 2011.

The film has suffered many set-backs since it began production last year. Not only were the on-going legal woes between Gibson and ex-wife Oksana prolonging the film's release date, the project had gone through several directors and actors before Foster and Gibson came on board.

The film follows Walter Black (Gibson), a depressed husband and toy executive who adopts a beaver hand-puppet as his sole means of communicating. The Beaver co-stars Foster as Black's wife, Anton Yelchin, Jennifer Lawrence and Cherry Jones.

The first trailer is set to premiere Friday evening on Entertainment Tonight, followed by iTunes Trailers.
