MTVSKins200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - MTV has canceled the much-talked about, but not much-watched series Skins.

The hour-long drama had made headlines since its premiere due to its sex, drinking and drug-fueled content, all by teenage characters. Accusations of child porn were even thrown at the series, and several advertisers pulled their commercials because of the content, including Taco Bell.

Ultimately, the racy content didn't deliver viewers. Skins premiered in January to 3.3 million viewers, but lost half of them by its second episode.

Said MTV's statement:

"Skins is a global television phenomenon that, unfortunately, didn’t connect with a U.S. audience as much as we had hoped."

The show was popular in Britain.
