Johnson's Aspire, a partnership with GMC TV, will target African-American families and will cover topics ranging from movies to music to faith-based programs. "Aspire will be a network that encourages and challenges African-American's to reach their dreams and will appeal to all generations," Johnson said in a statement.

Combs' Revolt will be more music-based, concentrating on pop culture, music videos, and live performances. Social media will play a large role, as Revolt "is the first channel created entirely from the ground up in this new era of social media. We're building this platform for artists to reach an extraordinary number of people in a completely different way," Comb's explained.

Rodriguez will launch El Rey, a general entertainment network aimed at Latino audiences. The network plans to launch by January 2014.

These new networks are part of Comcast's efforts to win a controlling stake in NBC-Universal by featuring more minority-based programming.
