"We're going to surprise a lot of people with the final chapter we have planned. It will be a fitting conclusion to our three-part opera of mayhem, despair and bad decisions," Phillips said in a statement Thursday.

After extensive negotiations, Bradley Cooper, Zack Galafianakis and Ed Helms are all set to reprise their roles in the blockbuster hit. It was reported that the three stars were asking for $15 million pay days and they were likely to receive that amount.

Although Warner Bros. could have kept the comedy series going, the cost of keeping the original actors around would have been too significant. The series has been hugely lucrative for the studio, with the first installment raking in $467.5 million worldwide and the sequel banking $581.5 million.

Although the plot of the final movie is not yet known, rumors are swirling it is set in Los Angeles and it doesn't follow the same format as the first two films. The script is being written by Phillips and Craig Mazin.
