Barbra Streisand Set To Direct First Movie In 16 Years, Starring Cate Blanchett And Colin Firth

75200BStreisand051210_01_200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Barbra Streisand is to direct her first movie in 16 years, Skinny and Cat, which is described an an "epic love story" and will star Cate Blanchett and Colin Firth.

The 70-year-old Oscar winner will highlight the relationship between writer Erskine Caldwell and photojournalist Margaret Bourke White, who were only married from 1939 - 1942, although collaborated on several projects together, and she is "very excited" to start filming the movie next January, according to Variety.

Streisand recently revealed to the Los Angeles Times that it has been tricky to raise the $20 million needed to finance the film, expressing: "I'm just in shock. Hollywood has changed so much. It's about a woman ahead of her time. It's just a fascinating story that is very relevant to today. I may have to pick up the phone again."

Barbra last directed the 1996 movie The Mirror Has Two Faces and also starred in the movie alongside Jeff Bridges, Lauren Bacall and Pierce Brosnan.
