The Canadian pop star bumped his mentor and last week's chart topper Usher out of the top spot. His closest competition was Kenny Chesney's Welcome to the Fishbowl, which sold a solid 193,000 copies. The "Boyfriend" singer bested Madonna's MDNA, which sold 359,000 copies upon its release in March, to claim the year's biggest title.

The album had the highest first-week numbers of any album since Adele's 21 rocked the charts, selling 729,000 copies in February.
