Ted Topples Box Office Expectations With Record $54.1 Mil

ted-box-office-200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (x17online) - Seth MacFarlane showed that Family Guy isn't his only trick up his sleeve as his film Ted took the top spot in this week's box office.

The movie, which stars Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis, debuted at $54.1 million domestically, making it the best showing ever for a R-rated comedy.

Steven Soderbergh's striptease movie Magic Mike impressed as well, earning $39.2 million. The two films became the first to R-rated movies to ever open up north of $20 million on the same weekend.

Disney's Brave held on strong, grossing $34 million while Tyler Perry's Madea's Witness Protection came in fourth with a respectable $26.4 million opening. Rounding out the top five was Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, which earned $11.8 million over the weekend.
