Novelist And Playwright Gore Vidal Dies At 86

GoreVidal200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Gore Vidal was best known for his works "Myra Breckinridge" and "The City and the Pillar."

Vidal died at the age of 86 from complications of pneumonia.

In addition to being a playwright and novelist, Vidal was also a screenwriter, essayist and political activist.

Vidal, who was once a writer for MGM studios, also ran for Congress in New York back in 1960. In 1982, he also ran for the U.S. Senate in California.

His works were deemed controversial in the 1960's for carrying transsexual and homosexual themes.
