Amal Clooney gave her first U.S. TV interview to NBC News Tonight to discuss the current human rights issues in the Maldives, and now we can totally see why George put a ring on it! The British beauty is remarkably intelligent and well spoken, and it really does seem that she cares more about her career than celebrity.

The London-based barrister is representing Mohammed Nasheed, who was sent to prison over terrorism charges by the current government. "Democracy is dead in the Maldives. Literally, if there were an election now there would be no one to run against the president. Every opposition leader is either behind bars or being pursued by the government through the courts," she explained of the dire situation in the country.

The 37-year-old met with lawmakers in Washington D.C. in an attempt to lobby Congress to level sanctions against The Maldives unless they release political prisoners, including Nasheed. "I thought to myself - the world needs more Nasheeds. I think it's important for tourists to know the facts of what's happening in the Maldives. I don't think people realize that there's a flogging taking place a kilometer away when they're sunbathing in their resort," she revealed as the reason she's representing Nasheed for free.

Her main point? She'd rather you pay more attention to her causes than her love life with her A-list actor hubby!

"I think its lovely that celebrities would chose their time and energy and the spotlight to do something worthwhile. I am still doing the same jobs as I was doing before. If there is more attention being paid than there was before, then that’s good," she noted.

Proud parents Josh Duhamel and Fergie brought their tow-headed toddler Axl to lunch in Brentwood on Thursday. Three's definitely company with this trio!

For the outing, Fergie wore ripped A Gold E jeans, an oversized scarf and a leather moto jacket. Too cool! Josh looked like he was taking it easy, wearing sweatpants and a zip-up fleece.

It looks like the 40-year-old and her husband of seven years were enjoying some low-key time together during their fast-paced life!

The pair had Axl on August 29, 2013 and it looks like Fergie is ready for more. When E! News asked the singer if she'd want a daughter, the sexy lady said, "of course, that would be amazing." We hope she gets her wish!

Up top he's a surfer dude, but from the waist down Cody Simpson is giving us some major hipster vibes!

Simpson spent last week at a luxury ski resort in Norway, and on Thursday the 19-year-old Aussie singer arrived back in Los Angeles.

While his ex Gigi Hadid is currently dating former One Direction singer Zayn Malik, Simpson is partnering up with one of the former 1D boys too! Well, maybe.

In a recent Instagram post, Cody hinted that he would be dropping a new album, writing, "We're gonna make some music this year, I've known a life before this and it was pretty, but it ended early. Just foolish and exploring the truths. It's funky time 2016." Last week Cody gave fans a sneak peek at some of his new tunes, and while he didn't exactly mention it, fans were quick to point out that Niall Horan's voice can be heard on the track. The boys are friends, so we wouldn't be surprised!

Caitlyn Jenner has responded to Ricky Gervais’ Golden Globes diss -- in the best way possible!

As you may know, Gervais ripped into Jenner on Sunday night while hosting the awards show and said, “I’m going to be nice tonight. I’ve changed — not as much as Bruce Jenner. Obviously. Now Caitlyn Jenner, of course … What a year she’s had! She became a role model for trans people everywhere, showing great bravery in breaking down barriers and destroying stereotypes. She didn’t do a lot for women drivers. But you can’t have everything, can ya? Not at the same time.”

So what did Cait have to say in response to that? "I think what I'm gonna do is call the Golden Globes, and see if they need a new host for next year, and we'll solve that problem," she told reporters at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour on Thursday.

On Thursday Kendall Jenner went shopping with mom Kris Jenner in Calabasas, and after that we spotted the supermodel (yes, we're calling her a supermodel now) gassing up her SUV. Later in the day the brunette bombshell took her vintage Corvette out for a spin. Rough life she's got!

In the latest preview for Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kendall explains that she misses certain activities with her dad, now that she's more focused on being a woman. "I miss doing stuff with dad that we used to always do," Kendall tells younger sister Kylie in a teaser. "Like the boyish things, like dirt-biking and, I don't know, the adventurous things. I just feel like you guys bond so well because you're super into makeup and I'm obviously not as into makeup as you."

Kylie suggests the two get their nails done, but Kendall is afraid she'll her her dad's feelings. "Don't you think it's better to not say anything?" Kylie says no and concludes, "You should just have a little conversation." We're guessing that talk is the focus of the next episode...

Reports have been circulating that the boy band's hiatus has turned into a permanent break, but Billboard is alleging that the rumors are not true. A source told the publication that, "nothing has changed regarding hiatus plans for the group, and all will be revealed in due time from the band members' own mouths."

We just couldn't take it if their 18-month hiatus was a forever split!

In other 1D news, a new single from the band's Made in the A.M.  album is expected.

Sad news ... Celine Dion's husband Rene Angelil died on Thursday. He was 73 years old.

The French Canadian music manager, who managed Dion's career when she was 12, died at the couple's home in Las Vegas, a rep told People.

In 1999, Angelil was diagnosed with throat cancer and eventually had surgery that removed part of his tongue in December 2013. In August 2014, the singer announced that she was postponing her career “indefinitely” to care for the man whom she's been married to since December 1994. Angelil, who was Dion's manager for 30 years, stepped down in June 2014.

At the time, Dion said, “I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband’s healing, and to do so, it’s important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children."

In August 2015, the singer returned to residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

Before her first show back, "My Heart Will Go" singer told USA Today, “I didn’t want to be here at first, I don’t need it, Don’t get me wrong, I love singing for people, but I have priorities." She continued, "Rene really gave me a gift. All my grieving, it was during this last year. I think I've got this. For now. When it hits me, it’s going to hit me. But my biggest job is to tell my husband, we’re fine. I’ll take care of our kids. You’ll watch us from another spot.”

The couple have three sons, Rene-Charles, 15, and 5-year-old twins Eddy and Nelson.

Kim Kardashian is known for her keen business sense, and she just revealed that, contrary to popular belief, it is her and not her mother Kris Jenner who makes the majority of business decisions for the Kardashian family. During a photoshoot and interview for Editorialist, the reality star also discussed her decision to create her own content for her app, and we have to hand it to her for having such a strong work ethic.

"I'll hear stories like, 'Kris Jenner is the puppet master, having all of her kids do this and that,' and I'm like, 'If they only knew!' I'm the one that will be like, 'Kylie, do this. Kendall, you should do this,'" she explained to the mag.

It sounds like Yeezy's wifey was the one who convinced the rest of her sisters to launch their respective apps!

"I definitely see the shift from magazine to digital, and that's exactly what I envision. I did want my own avenue to tell my story, to show my fashion pics, to offer my beauty tips, my secrets. I was doing so many interviews with so many different magazines, and I would find that it wouldn't be written right or maybe the product was off or I didn't feel it was truly representing me," she added.
