After much speculation, it's official: Stephen Colbert will be taking over for David Letterman as the host of The Late Show!

CBS released a press statement naming The Colbert Report host as CBS' new late night host:

"The CBS Television Network today announced that Stephen Colbert, the host, writer and executive producer of the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning The Colbert Report, will succeed David Letterman as the host of The Late Show, effective when Mr. Letterman retires from the broadcast. The five-year agreement between CBS and Colbert was announced by Leslie Moonves, President and CEO, CBS Corporation, and Nina Tassler, Chairman of CBS Entertainment.

Letterman, the legendary, critically acclaimed host of the CBS late night series for 21 years, announced his retirement on his April 3 broadcast. Colbert's premiere date as host of THE LATE SHOW will be announced after Mr. Lettermen determines a timetable for his final broadcasts in 2015 ...

“Stephen Colbert is one of the most inventive and respected forces on television,” said Moonves. “David Letterman's legacy and accomplishments are an incredible source of pride for all of us here, and today's announcement speaks to our commitment of upholding what he established for CBS in late night.”

The location and date of Colbert's Late Show has yet to be determined. But we are looking forward to the dry humorist's late-night reign!

Lindsay Lohan appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman last night to promote her OWN docu-series Lindsay, and after going through the usual list of questions, Lilo and Dave decide to prank call Oprah!

Dave quickly revealed who it was, and without wasting any time, he jumped right in and asked how Lindsay is doing. Oprah replied, “I think she's doing really okay. I think to have cameras following you around for every phase of your life and you’re trying to pull your life together, I think that’s a very difficult thing. We’re really pleased that she’s making some progress."

Lilo and Dave chatted about the show itself, and she said that while she is a producer, she has no control over the editing. "I saw part of last night, and some things were said that actually did not occur, and it's taken out of context a bit but that creates the drama and the spectacle," she said. "But that's ratings, so I get it." The 27-year-old actress added, "But it's pretty raw -- it's just me sorting out life again, and figuring things out and taking new steps and living sober-minded. It's a process." But is sober-minded the same thing as sober? We gotta ask!

Joe Jonas appears in the April issue of Scene magazine, and the 24-year-old musician totally throws Justin Bieber (and his dad Jeremy) under the bus. We gotta wonder how much of this is coming from Joe being jealous of the Biebs ... after all, Joe is worth an estimated $18 million while Bieber is worth at least $130 mil.

"I’ve had an easier route than most," Joe tells the mag. "The youngsters just turning 20, the Biebers of the world, are under a microscope." Did he stop and think that maybe this is because Bieber is um, at least ten times bigger than the Jonas Brothers were back in the day?

"[Bieber] is having a very tough time finding balance," he continued. "I think we all saw it coming. Your dad is your party animal -- that’s going to sum it up pretty quick. There’s an equation for some sort of explosion." While we do agree with that statement, we can't imagine what Bieber is going to say when he finds out Joe is talking smack about his family!

And this isn't the first time Joe has taken a jab at Justin! Last summer when he chatted with MuchMusic, Jonas referenced some of Bieber's bad behavior and said, "We never really had the interest in doing things like peeing in buckets or anything like that. We try to be careful."

Remember when Joe dragged Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus' names into the mix and suggested that they were the ones who pressured him into smoking pot? It certainly seems like he likes to stir the pot ... either that, or he's got something to promote!

They may not have officially come out as a couple, but it certainly seems like these two are dating!

On Wednesday night Khloe Kardashian and rapper French Montana went to Hooray Henry's in West Hollywood, and they were joined by Scott Disick, who apparently left Kourtney and the kids at home for a wild night out.

Last week Star mag reported that Khloe and French have become "inseperable" and he's been hanging out at her new pad in Calabasas. "But they're having fun together. They have a strong connection." However, a few days later, another source told HollywoodLife that Khloe is "not dating a soul," adding, "Nobody is occupying her time in a romantic way and yes, she's good friends with Frenchie but it's strictly platonic and in no way romantic."

However, several other sites are now reporting that the duo are together, and his ex wife Deen Kharbouch went as far as telling Life & Style that Khloe needs to watch out! Kharbouch claims that she helped French with his career, but as soon as he became famous, he forgot all about her and their son Kruz.

"She has to be careful. Things are not what they seem," Kharbouch said. "He and I worked together to put him where he is. As soon as he popped, it was as if Kruz and I didn't exist. He practically abandoned us." Another source tells the mag that this romance is bad news, adding, "The whole family is worried. They think she's headed down the same path she did with her ex Lamar Odom."

Yikes! Maybe they sent Scott to the club to supervise? Too late -- looks like he's already besties/carpool buddies with Scott!

On Wednesday afternoon Melanie Griffith went to lunch with a pal, and she showed off her body in a form-fitting cherry-print dress. Seeing as her daughter Dakota Johnson is starring in the upcoming erotic thriller Fifty Shades of Grey, maybe she's trying to sex it up a bit? Just a theory...

While catching up with her friend, Melanie was issued a parking citation, but she didn't seem fazed at all when she returned to her Bentley and saw it sitting on the windshield. Take that, City of West Hollywood Parking Enforcement!

For a second there we forgot that Gavin Rossdale doesn't just have three boys -- he has a daughter too!

On Wednesday afternoon Gavin and his 25-year-old daughter Daisy Lowe lunched in Beverly Hills, and the two seemingly had a blast catching up. Daisy flew in from London a few days ago, and after grabbing a bite with her pops, she headed to the Chateau Marmont.

Daisy found out over a decade ago that the Bush frontman was her father, but apparently he wasn't too keen on taking a paternity test when Daisy's mother, Pearl Lowe, initially requested one. Glad that all worked out!

Katy posted the above snapshot on Instagram the other day and wrote, "Just like a casual Tuesday lewk?" Obviously the pic was taken from a photo shoot, so we can't wait to see the finished product.

Katy and John Mayer broke up about six weeks ago, and though the two aren't currently speaking, a source tells E! News the 29-year-old singer is "doing really good" and she "is in great spirits right now." What does have her full attention is her upcoming Prismatic tour, which kicks off on May 8 in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

"Katy is focused on her tour right now," the source added. "She is not allowing anything to distract her from it." Sounds like a good plan!

The 32-year-old is looking perfectly poised despite a potential hiccup in her elaborate wedding plans to fiance Kanye West. Earlier this week a report surfaced that the duo may have to postpone their May 24 wedding in Paris, due to the fact the couple failed to realize there was a French law that required at least one of them to reside in the country for a minimum of 40 days before a civil ceremony can be conducted.

Younger sis Khloe arrived at the family office separately after a little retail therapy at Barney's New York. For the trip, Khloe wore a dark, gypsy-style dress with sexy cut outs. She also carried a pricey Birkin bag by Hermes.

Khloe has been making headlines this week after a rumored romance with rapper French Montana.
