It was self defense! Kanye West is now claiming his headline-making scuffle with a photographer at Los Angeles International Airport on July 19th occurred because the hip hop star feared for his safety.

The 36-year-old, who allegedly attacked videographer Daniel Ramos outside LAX and was subsequently charged with criminal battery and attempted grand theft, is now claiming that he acted in self defense. According to papers followed by his lawyer, West claims that as he was leaving the airport Ramos was trying to provoke him as he attempted to get in his waiting car and that, "his safety was in immediate danger."

Kim Kardashian's main squeeze says that his actions were, "necessary for his self-defense and safety and was justified in doing those acts."

After the altercation, the Yeezus singer left the scene and an ambulance arrived and transported Ramos, who is suing West in a civil suit, to a hospital. If convicted on the criminal charges, the Grammy faces a maximum sentence of one year in jail.

All would not be right in the world without at least one Lohan in legal trouble!

Dina Lohan arrived at a N.Y.C. courthouse this morning to plead not guilty to drunk driving charges stemming from her arrest earlier in the month, when cops cited her for blowing over a .20 on the breathalyzer after speeding on a Long Island highway.

Lindsay's mom was repped by Mark Heller, the same attorney who reps Lilo. Her lawyer argued Dina doesn't have a criminal record, and she was released without bail. The mother-of-four is due back in court October 23.

The bad news? The judge suspended Dina's license!

Miley Cyrus has been making headlines ever since her raunchy VMA performance with Robin Thicke, and the recently single star shows no signs of stopping her hyper-sexual behavior!

The "Wrecking Ball" singer posted these pics to her Twitter account, which show her laying on the ground twerking with a monkey on her back in one and straddling a giant stuffed animal in the other, and the chart topper made a special announcement to accompany the snapshots.

"Imma make a Tumblr. Just to post more lixxxx like this. #vegas @vij_photo #twerkinwithadayummonkeyonmyback," she captioned the photos.

Robert Pattinson has a new workout buddy ... and then some!

Over the last week we've seen Rob and this spandex-blad mystery brunette going to the same workout spot, and not only do they do cardio together, but yesterday the duo left in Rob's car!

A photographer on the scene tells X17online exclusively:

"Rob rarely hangs out with a girl he's not dating. He keeps to himself. So they fact they left in the car together definitely means something. Rob's all over the place right now — he's trying to replace Kristen and he's going out a lot of widening his circle of friends. He wants to find a girlfriend."

Though Rob laid low after splitting from Kristen Stewart and moving out of his Los Feliz pad, it looks like he's finally over their relationship. Either that or he wants to make K. Stew jealous -- this girl is definitely an upgrade!

Kanye West's verbal diarrhea is flowing yet again, and the latest interview has him yabbering on about Michael Jackson, his baby mama Kim Kardashian and how he's the "number one rock star on the planet."

Yeezy chatted with BBC Radio 1 personality Zane Lowe and he made some very ballsy comments about himself and how he plans on taking over the world.

On his fame, Kanye told Lowe:

"I'm not trying to regurgitate myself. I showed people that I understand how to make perfect. You know, [My Twisted] Dark Fantasy could be considered to be perfect. I know how to make perfect, but that's not what I'm here to do. I'm here to crack the pavement and make new grounds sonically...and culturally. We culture. Rap is the new rock 'n' roll. We the rock stars...We the new rock stars and I'm the biggest of all of them. I'm the number one rock star on the planet."

So what about MJ? Though the controversial rapper admitted that "there would be no Kanye West if it wasn't for Michael Jackson," he thinks he's surpassed the pop icon!

"I've got to a point that Michael Jackson did not break down. I have reached the glass ceiling, as a creative person, as a celebrity...and I've been at it for 10 years. I look around and I say, 'Wait a minute. There's no one around here in that looks like me. And if they are, they're quiet as f*ck.' So that means, wait a second -- now we're seriously like, in a civil rights movement."

On his bestie Jay Z, Kanye says:

"Jay Z is more realized than me. More of his dreams and aspirations have come true. You don't realize -- I am so frustrated. Like, I've got so much I want to give...And I've got a million people telling me why I can't do it ... I shouldn't be limited to only one place of creativity. You guys don't understand -- I did the Air Yeezys and they eBay'd for $90,000...but I didn't get a call from Nike the next day."

So what about Kim K and their daughter Nori?

"Yeah, it's like family time. That's what Kim gave me. She gave me everything, she gave me family, she gave me a support system. She was in a powerful enough situation where she could love me without asking me for money, which is really hard for me to find."

On Monday afternoon Heidi Klum slipped into a camo onesie (or is this a pant and top combination?), and she flashed her supermodel smile as she strutted through the terminal. We're not sold on the outfit, but hey, as long as it's comfy...

After tweeting all sorts of things about Sunday night's Emmy Awards, Heidi was back in promo mode with a message about her workout line. The Project Runway host posted the shot below and wrote, "What brings out your inner beast? For me, it's wearing Heidi Klum for @newbalance!"

It's been on and off more times than we can count over the last few weeks, so we never know what we're going to get...

Lamar hasn't been seen in a while, but he does have to appear in court on Thursday for his D.U.I. hearing, which is also the same date as the couple's four-year wedding anniversary. Talk about awkward!
