Chris Brown's probation stemming from his assault case against Rihanna was revoked by the judge this afternoon, but rather than being thrown in jail, the R&B star was released on his own recognizance.

Brown and his attorney appeared in court this afternoon after Los Angeles prosecutors filed legal documents seeking to revoke his probation after he was charged with misdemeanor hit-and-run and driving without a valid license earlier this spring. Brown reportedly rear-ended a car on May 12 and refused to provide the other driver with his insurance information at the time of the fender bender.

Brown has been on felony probation since the 2009 beating of on again/off again girlfriend Rihanna, and if the judge finds that Chris violated his probation, he could face up to four years in prison. There will be a probation violation hearing in August.

The British Colombia coroner's office confirmed that they will "definitely" not have Cory Monteith's toxicology or autopsy report on Monday. "We might well have an update tomorrow, but final cause of death might be several days or even a couple of weeks after that," a rep for the coroner said in a statement.

According to Chief Constable Doug LePard, the 31-year-old Canadian actor, whose last known film role was playing a drug-addicted hustler sent to prison on a murder rap in the gritty indie movie McCanick, checked into the hotel on July 6. The star reportedly also had several people in his hotel room on Friday night, however a surveillance camera caught video of him returning early in the morning to his room alone.

News broke Saturday night that Monteith's body had been discovered earlier that day when staff members discovered the body after checking on the actor who had missed his checkout time. Monteith's cause of death is currently unknown, but no foul play is expected. Monteith made headlines recently when he completed a month-long stint in rehab in April.

Josh Waller, the writer/director of Monteith's last film McCanick, told ET Canada, "[Cory] had expressed that he was kind of going through a rough time, but that he was feeling better about it, and then when I saw him at the screening he wrote me a really sweet email." The director also noted that he had no hesitation casting someone who had a past substance abuse problem. "He was like: I can do this character, I know this character, I was this character, I have lived elements of this. He said I was a troubled youth." Waller also added, "He was so charismatic and passionate about the material it was just a combination of everything that made me think this guy was going to do it."

The Canadian actor and costar Lea Michele had been dating for more than a year at the time of his death. A source told Us that the twosome was, "100 percent happy and together and in love" and were "planning on moving in together after he got back from Vancouver." Michele has yet to release a statement but her rep said, "We ask that everyone kindly respect Lea's privacy during this devastating time. Thank you."

Monteith's fans created a memorial in the Glee star's honor and placed flowers and heartfelt notes outside the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel.

Looks like Kirstie Alley is none too happy with apparent former friend Leah Remini for leaving the Church of Scientology. 62-year-old Kirstie, a longtime member of the church, lashed out at an unnamed target via Twitter last Wednesday, writing:

"When faced w malicious gossip I take a moment to experience the loss of a person I thought was my friend . . Then I say f**k em . . . : ) #Rise."

The always outspoken former Cheers star also got in another dig and added:

"The sweetest poison is often served with a smile ... beware syrup."

Yikes! We wouldn't want to go to a dinner party at her house!

Could this tirade be about Leah, who announced her departure from the church last week, after Tony Ortega's blog on Scientology reported the high-profile break up? The former Veronica's Closet star has not named names but all signs point to yes. On Thursday, the day following Kirstie's angry tweets, the New York Post's Page Six reported that Leah had made a "dramatic exit" from the Church and had allegedly been put through years of "interrogations" and "thought modifications," after questioning the whereabouts of church leader David Miscavige's wife as well as having other criticisms about the church and its practices.

A rep for the church commented on the Page Six story, telling Us Weekly, "The Church respects the privacy of parishioners and has no comment about any individual Church member." If only Kirstie had taken the high road.

Alley has tried to back peddle a bit her internet assault. On Sunday, she Tweeted:

"you're so vain..You probably think my tweets are about you ..don't you don't you don't you ? .....they're not."

On Monday, she added:

"Don't believe everything you read ...in fact don't believe anything you read..even better, just stop reading."

Seems like somebody needs some thought modifications!

Los Angeles prosecutors filed legal documents today seeking to revoke probation for Chris Brown after he was charged with misdemeanor hit-and-run and driving without a valid license last month.

The D.A.'s paperwork claims Brown "willfully and unlawfully" broke the law in the hit-and-run case, and they are asking that the judge revoke his probation and immediately remand him into custody. However, TMZ reports that it's a "standard request" and when prosecutors arrive at court this afternoon, they will not ask the judge to throw the R&B star in jail.

On May 12, Brown reportedly rear-ended a car and refused to provide the other driver with his insurance information at the time of the fender bender. The woman Brown hit (with his Range Rover, that is) showed Brown her license and information, but he didn't hand over his info -- his lawyer had it delivered to the other driver two days later.

Brown tweeted, "I did everything I was suppose to do during the so called hit n run, I provided the correct info. There were no injuries or damages. C'mon!!"

A blonde Selma Blair had a play date with her son Arthur at the farmers market in Studio City over the weekend, and the adorable duo had a fun-filled afternoon of snacking on strawberries and petting animals. Not a bad way to spend Sunday if you ask us!

Looks like her recent departure from the Charlie Sheen vehicle Anger Management isn't getting her down.

Although the Cruel Intentions star and beau Jason Bleik split last September, Selma has had reconciliation rumors swirling after spending a weekend in early July with Jason and Arthur at a petting zoo in Studio City. Despite all the reconciliation hubbub, Jason wasn't with her for this most farmer's market trip. These two sure like to keep people guessing!

Kris Jenner tried to fake out the media today, but we're onto her! Going all out, the reality matriarch tried to pull a fast one on viewers for the debut of her FOX talk show, Kris. Earlier today, the uber momager posted a photo of herself and an infant on Twitter with the message, "You never know who will stop by our show today #WatchKris." Was Grandma Jenner alluding to a possible first appearance of baby North West?! No. Absolutely not. Turns out the baby in question was actually a stunt baby, a mere mortal, and not the much-talked-about progeny of Hollywood royalty Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

This "fake baby" is reportedly the baby of one of Kris' stylists. You didn't really think the queen of the Kardashian empire was going to scoop what will likely be a multi-million dollar pay check for the A-list couple for the first image of baby Nori?! Of course not! Kris is way too savvy for that kind of rookie move.

Over the weekend, we spotted Kris Jenner heading into her Los Angeles studio wearing an all-white ensemble and carrying a Birkin bag into the studio before filming her new FOX talk show, Kris.

We wonder how Kimye feel about Kris using their baby for ratings? Probably okay. 'Cause ya know neither of them have ever done anything crazy for ratings ...

We already knew Jenny McCarthy was in negotiations to join The View as Joy Behar's replacement, and now it's been confirmed.

Barbara Walters announced the news on today's show, and said, "We are delighted that Jenny will be joining us as a permanent co-host on The View starting in September. Jenny brings us intelligence as well as warmth and humor. She can be serious and outrageous. She has connected with our audience and offers a fresh point of view. Jenny will be a great addition to the show as we usher in an exciting new chapter for The View."

While Walters has been with the show since 1997, there has been quite a bit of turnover in recent years. Elisabeth Hasselbeck made her final appearance on the show last week, and earlier this year Behar revealed that she would be leaving when her contract expires in August. Other notable co-hosts include Debbie Matenopoulos (1997-1998), Meredith Vieira (1997-2006), Star Jones (1997-2006), Lisa Ling (1999-2002) and Rosie O'Donnell (2006-2007). Sherri Shepherd and Whoopi Goldberg are expected to return for Season 17, but Walters said in May that she plans to retire in 2014.

McCarthy has appeared 17 times on The View over the years, and she said in a statement:

Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michaels totes her precious kids everywhere! On Sunday, the workout guru, outfitted in gym clothes, was snapped with her son, Phoenix, and daughter, Lukensia, in Malibu, Calif., on Sunday.

Recently, the woman of steel talked candidly to Shape magazine about her children, saying that she felt like they were raising her. "You really get confronted with all of your immaturity and selfishness," said Michaels.

Later on Sunday afternoon, Jillian and partner Heidi Rhoades took the kids to the local farmer's market. Clearly she is getting her kids into good eating habits at an early age. Fresh fruits and veggies for all!
