After Lady Gaga was forced to cancel four upcoming shows due to a case of synovitis, which causes severe inflammation of the joints, it has now been announced that she is canceling the remainder of her Born This Way Ball Tour to undergo hip surgery for her injuries.

"She will need surgery to repair the problem, followed by strict down time to recover," read a statement from concert promoter Live Nation.

The singer must be beside herself, considering she was so upset the other day when she announced she was canceling her shows in Chicago, Detroit, and Ontario.

"I barely know what to say. I've been hiding a show injury and chronic pain for some time now, [and] over the past month it has worsened. I've been praying it would heal. I hid it from my staff. I didn't want to disappoint my amazing fans. However, after last night's performance I could not walk and still can't," she wrote on her Facebook page Tuesday.

"I hope you can forgive me, as it is nearly impossible for me to forgive myself. I'm devastated & sad. It will hopefully heal as soon as possible. I hate this. I hate this so much. I love you and I'm sorry," she added on her page.

The X Factor judge, wearing a studded walking boot and sporting black crutches, opened up about how she got injured. Demi told Extra:

"I slipped and fell in my living room and, God bless my roommate, but she's not used to cleaning and so she actually "Pledged" the floors... Needless to say that didn't go very well."

As for whether she'll be returning to X Factor, Demi added:

"I'm focusing on my music this year, so it's going to be a lot of touring, a lot of promoting of my album… but I would love to. Obviously, if they asked for me to come back, I'd say yes.”

With Britney Spears leaving the hit show, Demi says her choice for a replacement would be Lady Gaga. Now THAT would be fun to watch!
