Hollywood Heavyweight Brett Ratner Apologizes For Gay Slur

Posted on Mon Nov 7th, 2011 3:45pm PDT       By X17 Staff

BrettRatnerApologizesGaySlur230.jpgBrett Ratner has apologized for using a gay slur over the weekend, but GLAAD says an apology is not enough.

First, the Tower Heist director, who has been out promoting his flick (the movie opened last weekend to mediocre numbers), told G4's Attack of the Show that he "banged" actress Olivia Munn.

Then, in a Q & A session following a Tower Heist screening, he was asked about rehearsing with the actors. His response? "Rehearsing is for f***."

Ratner might know comedy -- he also directed Rush Hour and produced Horrible Bosses -- but his comment was not laughed at.

GLAAD quickly condemned the statement via Twitter on Monday, calling it "unacceptable." The director quickly felt backlash, especially because he is scheduled to produce this year's Academy Awards. Many called for him to be fired.

Ratner said in a statement to The Wrap on Monday:

"It was a dumb way of expressing myself. Everyone who knows me knows that I don't have a prejudiced bone in my body. But as a storyteller I should have been much more thoughtful about the power of language and my choice of words."

GLAAD says Ratner's apology is "a start," but demands more.

Adam Lambert is honored in Out magazine’s Out 100, and the American Idol alum slathered on the makeup to re-enact a pose as Elvis Presley from Andy Warhol's iconic print. Loves it!

Adam reveals that Madonna and Michael Jackson were his biggest artistic influences growing up, telling the mag, "They were king and queen. And they both wore just as much makeup and were fabulous in their outfits and had music videos that were theatrical and cinematic, and that’s kind of the type of artist I see myself as—one that wants to create from the ground up, not only an amazing song, but on with a beat and a story and a look and a theme."

So what about his own music? "I want to make the kind of music I would listen to if I were out in a club," he says. Adam is putting the finishing touches on his second album, and it seems like he had far more control over this record than his first. "This is definitely the album that I want to make," he says.

Terry Richardson has released a few outtakes from his Vogue UK photo shoot with Dakota Fanning, and the actress looks at least a decade older than her 17 years in these shots. Of course, she still looks amazing, but we're wondering what happened to little girl who played Tom Cruise's young daughter in War of Worlds just six years ago!

P.S. We have to ask -- what's with the bruised knees?
