On Sunday, Madonna hit the BFI London Film Festival for the U.K. premiere of her critically panned directorial debut, W.E..
Indeed, the critics had already dissed her, but fans, too, turned on Madge at the event. She was booed.
Fans had been waiting for hours in London's Leicester Square to see the pop icon, and jeered when she only stopped to talk to a few before entering the theater.
Madonna told Sky News amidst the yells that she identifies with the main character in her film, Wallis Simpson. Simpson, an American, was criticized for her relationship with the Duke of Windsor (Simpson is also portrayed in The King's Speech.) She said:
"I do know what it is like to be misunderstood on a global scale."
The singer met major criticism Sunday when news broke that her older brother is homeless, while Madge has millions.
Asked how she handles backlash, Madonna said: " ... criticism goes with the territory. I'm used to it. ... I don't read anything."

While Kim is away, Kris Humphries plays!
As wifey Kim Kardashian was off in New York taping her reality show with sis Kourtney, new hubby Kris was in Miami taking in the local sights and enjoying the local flavor ...
The NBA star partied at the Fontainebleau's Liv nightclub September 30 and cozied up to a particular brunette on that fateful Friday night. A source inside the club that evening tells us:
"Kris was eating up the attention. All these girls were coming up to him and trying to flirt and he loved it, but he was really into this one chick. He kept leaning into her, talking in her ear. She took out her cell phone and was typing into it -- I think she got his number."
As the night progressed, it was unclear whether the two left together but Kim wasn't waiting for Kris at home -- she was off in New York, taping Kim and Kourtney Take New York. Since Kim left Kris solo, did the 26-year-old basketball hunk indulge?
"Kris is so young -- he's just doing what any guy his age does; it's just most guys his age aren't married. He's a professional basketball player and he's used to having access to whatever he wants. How's he gonna say no?" our source said.
Eeesh ... could Kim and Kris really be headed for Splitsville just two months after tying he knot???
