Deadline is reporting that Oscar producer Brett Ratner will tell the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences that he wants Eddie Murphy to host next year's Oscars.

The site reports that this would be the first step in getting Murphy in for the gig -- the deal is far from done. But, Ratner reportedly is only interested in Murphy, though other big names have shown interest in the hosting job.

And, apparently Eddie's talent agency, WME, thinks hosting would be a good idea for his career. Murphy hasn't starred in a live-action movie on the big screen since 2009's Imagine That (he voiced in 2010's Shrek Forever After.) He has the comedy Tower Heist, co-starring Ben Stiller and Matthew Broderick, out Nov. 4 -- Ratner directed the pic.

Murphy has the stand-up comedy experience that many in the industry say are key for a good Oscars show. He has never hosted before.

LeAnn Rimes and hubby Eddie Cibrian are making sure that family time remains a priority despite their busy schedules.

The twosome took Eddie's two boys to the Malibu Kiwanis' 30th Anniversary Chili Cook-Off and Carnival.

Eddie has been flying back and forth to Chicago while filming continues for his upcoming NBC series, The Playboy Club. LeAnn, who has been performing at various venues across the U.S., is making sure to visit her man in The Windy City on a regular basis.

Cheyenne Jackson is no longer a single man. The Glee actor tied the knot with his partner Monte Lapka in New York.

The 36-year-old thespian Tweeted the above photo and the following:

"It's official, after 11 years together, Zora's no longer a bastard. Married the best man I've ever known."

Zora is the couple's dog. Now that NYC passed the legalization of same sex marriage, Cheyenne said it was his opportunity to have his dream wedding.

He added: "Something small. My dream wedding involves just close friends and good music."

Nicole Richie took her adorable daughter Harlow to the Malibu Kiwanis Chili Cook-Off and Carnival Saturday and the curly-haired cutie couldn't wait to hit the rides!

The hippie-chic mom was decked out in jean shorts, a silk blouse, suede moccasins and a felt hat. She guided her little girl to the giant slide, the mini-rollercoaster and the House of Mirrors. The pair stayed for less than an hour before heading home.

Richie will be back at work on her new reality show with Jessica Simpson on Tuesday (after the Monday Labor Day holiday). The former Simple Lifer is taking on a new type of reality with NBC's Fashion Star, acting as a judge in the Project Runway-type show. Designer John Varvatos will also judge and the show will be hosted by supermodel Elle MacPherson.
