John Travolta is ruffling some feathers of the Aussie airline's staff for a "corny" and "tacky" safety video he shot that runs on Quantas flights.
The 57-year-old flying enthusiast, who owns his own Quantas Boewing 707 and is an ambassador for the airlines, opens the video saying, "This is your captain speaking. Well, maybe not today. But I can guarantee that the guys on the flight deck and the great team care just as much about aircraft safety as I do."
Many staffers object to Travolta using the word "team". 'We feel it's demeaning to be called 'the team'" Quantas employee said in an online forum. "It makes us feel like we work at McDonald's." Others have called the vid "tacky", "corny" and "trite."
Still more are calling for Travolta to be replaced altogether with Sydney-based pilot, Captain Richard de Crespigny who was credited with saving 466 lives on a Quantas flight from Singapore last year when part of its engine fell off.
John's last feature, From Paris With Love, only took in $24,000,000 at the US box office and no one even wants to see him on an in-flight safety video? Sounds like Travolta should call up Tarantino and ask him to script his second comeback!

Taylor Swift shopped in Notting Hill today ahead of her Birmingham show for her Speak Now World Tour, with her lucky number 13 painted on her hand.
Taylor has made no secret of her love for the very unlucky number. It's not only the date of her birth (December 13th, 1989) but it's also the number of tracks on her hit album Fearless. She not only draws it on her hand for her shows, but you can also see it in her scene in Valentine's Day, opposite Taylor Lautner ... who wears a jersey with the number 13 on it.
Last night, Taylor went out on King's Road with friends after appearing on BBC's The One Show, where they played footage of an 11-year-old Taylor singing the national anthem. "Oh my God, I was terrified," says Swift, remembering. "I'm from Pennsylvania, so I think I was really nervous because I knew all my classmates were watching. I was obviously so terrified but it's funny to look back and think that is actually 10 years ago now. Wow!"
Taylor is just one of several performers currently touring Europe, with Justin Bieber taking his My World Tour to the continent, as well as Katy Perry's California Dreams tour which just kicked off in London.

During an appearance on HLN's Showbiz Tonight, former Saturday Night Live cast member Victoria Jackson spoke out on Glee's same sex kiss between Chris Colfer and Darren Criss.
After being called homophobic, Jackson says:
"Well, it doesn't matter what I think. What matters is what the Bible says. And I'm really concerned about our country because immorality is, well, let's see: secular humanism rules the airwaves, and it's stealing the innocence away from this whole generation of children. My daughter is a teenager and I cant find any show that she can watch."
In her WorldNetDaily column, Jackson had called the kiss "sickening." Her comments went on to say:
"Did you see "Glee" this week? Sickening! And, besides shoving the gay thing down our throats, they made a mockery of Christians - again! I wonder what their agenda is? Hey, producers of "Glee" - what's your agenda? One-way tolerance?"
As for what she thinks of the word "homophobic," she adds, "That's a cute little buzzword of the liberal agenda. Basically, the bible says that homosexuality is a sin."

Twitter
James Franco is not happy with Oscar writer Bruce Vilanch, and he's making it well-known via Twitter. Franco tweeted "Bruce, he let me down" in addition to a photo of the two men with the following words scribbled on it:
"James fu**ed up the Oscars. Trust me, I know comedy. I mean, come on, I write for Bette Midler!"
The war of words began after Vilanch said the following to New York Magazine ... criticizing Franco's hosting performance:
"I don't think he realized how big a deal it is to do it until he was actually confronted with it. I think he thought he would kind of ... I don't know what he thought. I thought maybe it was a performance-art prank, and then I realized he sincerely wanted to do it. But it's outside of those guys' comfort zones. The only people who know how to host those shows are people who get up onstage every night and say, 'Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. A funny thing happened ... ' Or people like Bette [Midler] who get up and sing all night and tell stories."
The 32-year-old actor is currently studying for a PhD in English at Yale, and also taking classes at the Rhode Island School of Design.
