David Letterman has no problem addressing controversy, and last night on his show, he proved that by offering an apology to Lindsay Lohan's family. To his Late Show audience, Letterman said sarcastically:

"I hope I didn't embarrass you, Lindsay, or your family."

Lilo's dad, Michael, had arranged for his daughter to read Letterman's Top Ten list, however Late Show producers said the whole ordeal was set up without authorization.

However, Michael claims Lilo's Letterman spot was, in fact, run by Lindsay ... and she agreed to it. Papa Lohan told X17online exclusively:

"They are liars. I set this up entirely with Lindsay's permission. It went through Lindsay and she really wanted to do it. It was all set, but at the last minute, Lou Taylor and Leslie Sloane canceled her appearance."

When talking about the fiasco, Letterman blamed himself for jumping the gun and for having his staff send out a press release about Lindsay's appearance on the show.

On Wednesday afternoon we spotted Katy Perry at the airport with a pal, and the singer flashed her stunning engagement ring as she shielded her face from paparazzi flashbulbs. There was a rumor online recently that Katy and husband Russell Brand were seeking marriage counseling, but sources close to the couple have since shot down the reports.

Red Riding Hood hottie Amanda Seyfried was snapped moving in to her new Hollywood pad today, and later we caught the actress running errands nearby.

Amanda briefly chatted with photographers, and when the subject of on-again/off-again flame Ryan Phillippe came up, she said, "Oh, he's a nice guy -- we're friends. And that Rihanna story is not true. That is so f*cking not true!" Glad we cleared that up! Earlier today it was reported that Ryan attempted to chat up Rihanna at the Gucci/Roc Nation brunch at Soho House on February 12, and after he gave it his best shot, she politely rebuffed him.

P.S. Could anyone else look as angelic as Amanda while dropping the f-bomb (and it's not the first time!)? I think not!

The former Simple Life starlet has been busy the past few days!

Nicole Richie spent the weekend with her two adorable kids, Harlow and Sparrow, and took the tots to a Beverly Hills park for some fun in the sun.

Then it was off to NYC to co-host The View with Whoopi and company - Richie put in her two cents when the subject of Charlie Sheen was brought up in Hot Topics. "I don't think he should make it somebody else's responsibility to keep him sober," said Nicole. "He's an adult and he needs to take responsibility for his actions."

And now the mother of two is back on the west coast and here she is gyming it up in Studio City after an intense workout session. Lookin' good, Nic!

Super Bowl's cutest couple is on the move!

Actress Cameron Diaz and Yankees star player Alex Rodriguez have been in New York together (and then Florida) since attending the Super Bowl - where Cam fed A-Rod some popcorn and cameras caught the twosome on tape - but now the lovers are back in LA.

Here's Diaz cruising around in her Mercedes on Tuesday with her main man in the passenger seat. Rumor has it the couple went house hunting in Miami over the weekend, checking out new digs... are these two seriously going to move in together?

Hotel heiress Paris Hilton was busy preparing for her first big birthday party all day yesterday - check out Princess P taking her pooch (in a dog carrier) over to sister Nicky's house in Bev Hills. The always stunning Catherine Zeta-Jones, accompanied by her happy and healthy hubby Michael Douglas, attended the Michael Kors show (along with Bette Midler and Angelica Huston) at Lincoln Center in the Big Apple today.

Meanwhile, HSM starlet Vanessa Hudgens showed off her lovely legs while on her way to the Yigal Azrouel show - V-Hud was also out and about in NYC last night! Busy girl.
