The 16-year-old teen heartthrob was named artist of the year at the 38th annual American Music Awards tonight at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles...

Justin Bieber beat out Eminem, Ke$ha, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry for the for the award show's top honor. Congrats!

Bieber won for every category in which he was nominated, including breakthrough artist, favorite male pop artist and favorite pop-rock album for My World 2.0.

Eminem won favorite male rap/hip-hop artist and best rap/hip-hop album for Recovery. Usher won R&B/soul award for Raymond v. Raymond and Carrie Underwood took home top country music album for Play On. Rihanna was named favorite female R&B/soul artist.

Taylor Swift was named favorite female country artist - her album Speak Now will be up for awards next year - and Brad Paisley was the favorite male country artist. Shakira was named favorite Latin music artist and the Black Eyed Peas nabbed best pop/rock band.

Former Disney queen Miley Cyrus - who turns 18 this Tuesday - apparently had a different song choice in mind...

Tonight is the 2010 American Music Awards and rumor has it Miss Miley was set to perform "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," a song by Bret Michaels which she re-recorded for her latest album Can't Be Tamed, at the big show.

But due to recent reports alleging that Michaels had an affair with Miley's mom Tish - Miley's parents are currently divorcing - the singer decided to swap that song for "Forgiveness and Love," another hit off her album. Perhaps this song is even a subtle comment to her 'rents in the wake of Miley's family woes?

Michaels vehemently denies an affair with Tish Cyrus. Still, probably best Miley stay away from that song for a while!

The AMAs take place at the Nokia Theatre tonight and will be broadcast live on ABC.
