Based on preliminary ratings, NBC's The Jay Leno Show is off to an excellent start.
For the debut of his 10pm comedy show, Leno pulled a 12.1 preliminary metered-market household rating and 19 share, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This is 70% stronger than Conan O'Brien's Tonight Show premiere last June (7.1 household rating, 17 share, 9.2 million viewers) and 38% higher than Leno's own final Tonight Show appearance last May (8.8 household rating, 20 share, 11.9 million viewers).
We can't be sure of the exact viewership just yet, but THR seems to predict that Leno's 12.1 could translate to more than 10 million viewers. Not bad!

Aww, poor David Beckham! He's one of the greatest soccer players in the world, but that doesn't mean his magic works on every ball he touches!
We snapped the hunky father of three practicing his swinging skills on a green in Los Angeles yesterday afternoon, and the soccer stud appeared very frustrated after he missed a few shots. Hey it's okay...maybe his sons could teach him a thing or two about golfing!

Posh Spice? More like Humble Spice!
While her hubby David is back in LA with the boys, Victoria Beckham is in NYC, and though she's become incredibly popular over the years, she certainly hasn't forgotten how she got there! When we snapped the fashionista on her way to an event in NYC, she stopped and rolled down her window to sign autographs for several fans.
And that's not all...we actually caught a glimpse of her smiling! Hey, we knew some people live for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, but it looks like it's the high point of her year!

Beyonce has signed a deal with fragrance makers Coty to launch her own perfume next spring and this is what the VMA winner had to say about the partnership:
"For me, fragrance reflects a woman's attitude and unique sense of style. While I love various perfumes, I haven't found a scent that truly personifies me as a woman. Working with Coty, I was able to turn my ideal fragrance into a reality by creating an alluring and sophisticated fragrance; one that's reflective of my inner power."

Kanye West brought some drama to the premiere of Jay Leno's new NBC primetime show tonight, commenting on his disastrous interruption of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Kanye told Leno:
"My entire life, I've only wanted to give and do something that I felt was right. And I immediately knew in the situation that it was wrong, and it wasn't a spectacle or just ... you know, it's actually someone's emotions, you know, that I stepped on."
And poor Kanye lamented over his own pain in having to deal with the fallout:
"Yeah, it's been extremely difficult ... just dealing with the fact that I hurt someone or took anything away, you know, from a talented artist or from anyone, because I only wanted to help people."
Oh, so now he's Mother, F-ing Teresa! This guy is a kid, really -- a big, rich kid, but a kid, nonetheless. OR he's the best actor ever -- having pulled off the most ridiculous scam in the history of the VMA's, staging and faking the whole thing right along with MTV producers ...
He went on to tell Leno:
"... it was very rude, period ... [I knew I'd made a mistake] as soon as I gave the mic back to her and she didn't keep going ... I'm just ashamed that my hurt caused someone else's hurt."
Check out the emotional silence before Kanye starts running his mouth. Roll tape...

Poor Jess! Poor Daisy!
Jessica Simpson just tweeted that her best girl Daisy was snatched by a coyote!:
"My heart is broken because a coyote took my precious Daisy right in front of our eyes. HORROR! We are searching. Hoping. Please help!"
We hear the horrible event happened on Saturday night. Neighbors of JS tell X17online.com exclusively:
"That evening [Saturday], we heard yelling and screaming coming from the direction of Jessica's house around 9 pm. I can only imagine that it was that moment that it happened ... because the next day we saw posters up around the neighborhood announcing that Jessica had lost her dog to a coyote. It's so sad."
Jess has even made posters asking for any information leading to her doggie's whereabouts.
Honestly, the situation sounds a bit hopeless, but we wish Jess the best of luck in finding Daisy.

Well, it should be interesting to see what he has to say about last night's inappropriate behavior!
We were well aware of the fact that Kanye West was downing a bottle of Hennessey prior to the incident at the VMAs last night, but we totally forgot that this isn't the first time he's had an alcohol-induced rant at an MTV event!
Three years ago at the 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards, Kanye stormed the stage when Justice Vs Simian's "We Are Your Friends" beat out his song, "Touch The Sky," and he yabbered on about how he should have won since his clip "cost a million dollars and Pamela Anderson was in it." He later apologized for the stunt, explaining he had a "little sippy sippy" before the production. Aha! MTV must have known that this would happen when they saw the rapper walking the red carpet with a bottle of booze in his hand, right? Or perhaps they planned it themselves?
A source close to production tells X17online that the Kanye drama was "in no way planned" by the network, and the rude rapper was escorted out of Radio City Music Hall shortly after his outburst. While the whole incident was rather unfortunate, it garnered Taylor some extra attention and it certainly didn't hurt the show's ratings! MTV reports that viewership was up 17% from 2008, so even though our source insists that it was 100% Kanye, we have to wonder...

Well this is a sad way to end the day.
The AP report that Patrick Swayze - star of such hit films like Ghost and Dirty Dancing - has died after almost two years of battling pancreatic cancer. He was 57 years old.
"Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the past 20 months," his rep said in a statement. Swayze's family was at his side. It had been reported recently that the actor had gone home to be with his family.
Our condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time...
