We didn't really see this coming, and apparently George Clooney didn't either!

On Tuesday the actor was being interviewed on CNN by Richard Roth at the United Nations for a roundtable with President Obama, and after asking a bunch of relevant questions, Roth went for the important stuff. You know, what Clooney thinks about Angelina Jolie filing for divorce from Brad Pitt!

“What happened?” Clooney asked. "I didn't know that. Wow I feel very sorry, then. That's a sad story and unfortunate for a family. It's an unfortunate story about a family. I feel very sorry to hear that. This is the first I’ve heard of it." Watch the video above to see his reaction -- he looks completely stunned!

Jolie filed for divorce from Brad on Monday, citing irreconcilable differences and is seeking custody of their six kids. The two have been together for a decade, but they've only been married for two years. Jolie's rep said in a statement, "This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting at this time, and asks that the family be given their privacy during this difficult time."

Rumor has it Brad cheated on Angelina with co-star Marion Cotillard, and there have been rumblings that their clashing lifestyles also led to the split. Doubt these two will patch things back up!

There's more to the split!

X17online has learned exclusively that in addition to her issues with the actor's pot smoking and parenting style, Angie was insanely jealous of his close relationship with Allied co-star Marion Cotillard. AND guess what -- Marion is pregnant! The French actress just confirmed in a cover story for Closer magazine that she's with child, though no one seemed to be speculating when the French actress showed up in a voluminous dress on the red carpet at the Toronto Film Festival last week. And funny enough, Marion didn't talk about her plump belly -- she let her Juste la Fin du Monde pregnant costar Lea Seydoux take the spotlight.

So why didn't Cotillard want to talk about her baby news? Maybe because Brad Pitt's the DAD! The French actress, who won an Oscar for her role as Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose, has been with long-time partner French actor/director Guillaume Canet since 2007 and they have a 5-year-old son Marcel together. Reports from Paris say Marion is due in December. That puts the date of conception in March, when she and Brad were filming Allied together in London. By April, news was leaking from the set that the two might have been carrying on an affair. Even the film's director, Graham King, said Cotillard and Pitt had an unusually strong chemistry: "Brad and Marion immediately had the utmost respect for each other, so once they delved into their characters, their chemistry was electric," he told People magazine.

And a source tells X17:

"Angie couldn't handle Brad's sex scenes with Marion. Her jealousy was out of control. Brad tried for months to reassure her and calm her anxiety, but it simply didn't work. She said her intuition was telling her he was cheating."

Cotillard and Canet never tied the knot but they were seen together on September 10, with their son, in Bordeaux, France for an environmental gather -- Marion is a spokesperson for Greenpeace. Obviously Canet assumes he's the father of the child ... but is it possible he's not?!

"Angie has struggled with insecurity over Brad's fidelity for years, but she was never as jealous over a co-star as she was with Marion. She was always paranoid Brad would do to her the same thing he did to Jen," the source tells us.

Would Brad actually shack up with Marion and raise their baby together, leaving their long-time lovers (and families) in the lurch?

After reporting that Angelina Jolie is divorcing Brad Pitt due to his anger and possible substance abuse issues, TMZ is now saying that sources are telling them that Angie's people are lying.

A source close to Brad says that the rumor that the actor is a danger to his children is "a malicious lie" and that "he's a loving and devoted father who has never and would never put his children in any dangerous situation."

Earlier in the day, the outlet reported that Angie filed for divorce because of their differing parenting styles, then the publication claimed the split was over Brad's "anger problem," which was fueled by pot and alcohol.

Interestingly enough, the new source does not address the weed and alcohol issues. So hey, maybe Brad's still toking it up and drinking it down? But he's not a bad dad 'cause of it -- maybe Brad's just a party dude!

The new "sources" that are claiming that Angie's accusations are lies seem a little late to the story (literally). Most likely Brad's attorney (who seemed to be asleep most of the morning) finally decided to do some damage control for his client.

Hours later, Brad issued a statement saying that he was "saddened" by the events and that his mission was to put his children first. In Touch has also reported that the Legends of the Fall actor is seeking joint custody.

Rumors are swirling that Brad Pitt's too close for comfort relationship with Marion Cotillard is the reason Angelina Jolie decided to file for divorce, and now reports claim the Oscar winner's jealous side surfaced before, when her husband was caught flirting up a storm with Selena Gomez at a Golden Globes party earlier this year.

"Angie blew a gasket when she saw Selena’s Instagram, and heard through friends about how Brad and Selena flirted so shamelessly," a source dished to National Enquirer at the time. "Now Selena is bragging to everyone that Brad is gung ho to make another movie with her. Selena is going around jokingly calling Brad ‘my future husband,’ and Angie is obviously none too pleased," the source added.

The "Come & Get It" songstress has gotten herself into trouble with taken men before, too! Back in May, the brunette beauty was photographed all over Orlando Bloom in Las Vegas, even though he was still very much in a relationship with Katy Perry. Homewrecker much?

Maybe she thinks Marion Cotillard is pregnant with Brad's baby, just like we do!

Angelina Jolie decided to pull the plug on her marriage to Brad Pitt just seven days ago, and she was prompted by a specific event that occurred, Us Weekly reports.

"The final divorce decision was only made one week ago. An incident took place and prompted [Angelina] to act and file," a source dished to the mag. This just reeks of an affair!

Page Six is reporting that the mother-of-six suspected her husband was being unfaithful with his Allies co-star Cotillard, so she put a PI on the case! "She hired a private eye because she felt that he was fooling around with her on the set, and it turns out, he was. And that was the final straw," a source told the outlet.

It can't be easy making the call to breakup your family, but Angie "feels like a weight has been lifted" now that she's taken the steps to dissolve their union.

"This has been coming for some time. This is a very difficult period for the family. It was such a difficult decision and it was so hard for her to make. Now that she has made it she knows it was the right thing," another source explained to Us Weekly.

A few hours after new broke that Angelina Jolie had filed for divorce from her partner of 12 years, her divorce petition has gone public.

So here are some deets …

-The documents were filed on September 19.

-The date of their separation was September 15.

-The couple was married for two years and one month.

-Angelina did not file for separation she filed for divorce.

-The reason listed was "irreconcilable differences"

-In regards to their six children, Angelina has requested joint legal custody, sole physical custody and requesting visitations for Brad.

-Angelina is not requesting spousal support or child support.

Jolie's manager, Geyer Kosinski, released a statement: "Angelina will always do what's in the best interest to protect her children ... She appreciates everyone's understanding of their need for privacy at this time."

On the flip side, Brad has come out and said, "I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well being of our kids."

Some outlets are reporting that Angelina's jealousy over Brad's Allied co-star, Marion Cottilard, had something to do with the split, while some reports insist it's Brad's strict parenting style and his penchant for weed and alcohol that destroyed his relationship with the Oscar winner.

Angelina Jolie has released a statement via her manager and lawyer following the news that she's filed for divorce from Brad Pitt.

"Angelina will always do what’s in the best interest to protect her children. She appreciates everyone’s understanding of their need for privacy at this time," her manager Geyer Kosinski explained.

"This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time,” her attorney Robert Offer explained in another statement.

Protecting the children? The health of the family?! This seems like a carefully worded way of saying Brad is a bad dad!

Sources tell TMZ the actor's penchant for weed and booze pushed his wife to the breaking point, but we're not sure we're buying that. She knew the World War Z star loved pot since the minute she met him! Although, perhaps he slid back into old habits, because he has previously discussed how he quit the drug when he became a father.

"I quit smoking [marijuana]. That [having kids] was the only thing that got me to quit. That was it. Done," he confessed during an interview. His crumbling relationship could have driven him to pick up the reefer again!

UPDATE: Brad Pitt has released his own statement.

"I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time," he said.

Angelina Jolie's famous father, Jon Voight, is just as shocked as we are that his daughter filed for divorce from her longtime love. Sounds like someone is not in the know!

“I don’t know much about it except it must be something serious,” Voight told Radar. “I just got the news and I’m concerned.”

When asked about why the A-listers split, he said he did not know but guess he would learn when he “sees Angie and the children soon.”

The 77-year-old added that, “The priority is always the children … I know she’s always concerned about the children.”

Despite the divorce, the Ray Donovan actor hopes that the estranged couple will have an amicable split for the sake of their six kids Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox.

“I’m hopeful,” he said. “Say a little prayer. This is news to me too.” It definitely seems like Voight is sad about the split -- but he also seems a little clueless about his daughter's life.

The news site has reported that the Hollywood superstar filed for divorce from Brad Pitt on Sept. 15, citing irreconcilable differences. Apparently, she's seeking sole physical custody of the couple's six children. The site reported that the Salt actress, who nabbed divorce-lawyer-to-the-stars Laura Wasser, does NOT want Brad to have joint physical custody, but she will allow him visitation rights and joint legal custody. Yikes!

We've also been hearing that the split happened for various reasons but mainly due to Brad's parenting style mixed with a possible substance abuse issue -- and not a third person. A source says that Angelina is "fed up" with Brad's constant weed and possible alcohol consumption, as well as "an anger problem," which she felt endangered her children. Double yikes!
