Spears has been called to the laboratory 14 times, but has failed to respond to eight of those calls, Federline attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan told Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon Thursday morning.

Gordon suggested Spears get a separate cell phone for lab-only use.

Kiley then said she wanted to contact the laboratory, and Gordon said lawyers should reconvene at 10:30 a.m. with a plan that works. No plan reached yet.

My mother has done drug testing for 16 years and she said she has never heard of anyone having to call the lab back to confirm random testing. They are given a time frame to come into the lab and be tested, if they don’t come in they fail. There are times when probation officers will be aware of the testing so they can track the person down if they are known to skip their tests, but that is only people with a criminal history.

Also to be discussed at the hearing would be whether Spears would be permitted to drive the children. Gordon said his previous order still stands, that the singer is not to transport her children unless they are properly secured in child-safety seats.
