TMZ has learned Sean Preston and Jayden James were turned back over K-Fed tonight just before 11:00 PM PT.

We're told that while cops were at the troubled pop star's home, they discovered Spears "under the influence of an unknown substance."

Several ambulances have been called to the scene.

She's never going to get them back now!

Cops were called to the trainwreck's house after she refused to hand over custody of her kids to Kevin Federline's bodyguard.

The showdown lasted almost FOUR hours and K-Fed showed up, as did his lawyer and a representative for Spears law firm, you know, the ones that want to quit.

Police have said that Spears was discovered to be under the influence of an unknown substance.

Thankfully the children are back with K-Fed now and Spears will be held for psychiatric evaluation at the hospital.

I have 1 question though. WHERE THE HELL WAS THE COURT MONITOR? If it is to my understanding the court agreement was that if the monitor saw ANY suspicious behavior that the visitation is to end IMMEDIATELY! The monitor didn't call the police; Kevin's bodyguards did! The police said she was clearly high when they got there. Why didn't the monitor do anything about this earlier if she was high? I am very concerned about this. How long has this been going on in front of the monitor? If I were Kevin, I would have some serious questions ready for that court when the doors open tomorrow morning!

Just heard a report that said Britney took an overdose of anti-depressants and had to be rushed to hospital.

This family needs help and kindness. It does not need to be torn down. None of its members need to be torn down. I do not condone any of Britney's behaviors, but she is obviously in a lot of pain and in need of some serious help. This whole family needs help. There are four children involved in this situation who did not ask for it, and most certainly deserve to be respected, protected, loved, and safe. Hopefully these two boys are young enough that they will not carry any lasting memories of tonight's events. But there needs to be some intervention and a whole lot of privacy for this family so that they can begin to heal. My sincere hope is that Britney goes away for a long time so that she can get the help she needs away from the glare of Hollywood. There is a time to be disgusting and this isn't it. I am mostly neutral and I knew this was coming but I certainly don't think joking like this has any place here. Kevin is at the hospital and I am sure he is very worried. His poor sons were just traumatized. Britney is under the influence of some unknown drug and was hysterical and threatening all sorts of things. She needs to be evaluated for drugs and for her mental issues. J glad. I have to diagree with you. This is partailly the monitor's fault. It IS her job to make sure that this doesn't happen. I do understand that it was just normal behavior for her, but the police could clearly tell she was high. The court monitor must have known that.
I am not saying that the incident is the monitor's fault. That one is all Britney, but I am saying that her visitation should not have gone its full length if she was that high.

We really should not be surprised by this the court system (monitor, testing, etc.) FAILS many people all the time, especially in lower income areas. A court document really can't stop people from doing what they want especially if they are insane and determined to continue their destructive behavior.

I knew Kevin would be there with Britney, that's is the respectable and right thing to do. Plus, I would think he is there so he can keep her mother informed. This would be a horrible thing to wake up to see on TV.

How long do you think it will take for Adnan/Sam/and anyone else to publish their tell-alls? This whole thing is the sickest and saddest story. Hopefully the boys are safe. It's been said that one is at Cedar-Sinai (one of the boys). Britney taken to another hospital for her mental hold. The worst possible thing that could have happened is that she had an episode while she was driving. She would have taken out some other innocent person. J glad. I have to diagree with you. This is partailly the monitor's fault. It IS her job to make sure that this doesn't happen. I do understand that it was just normal behavior for her, but the police could clearly tell she was high. The court monitor must have known that.

Britney is being held for being under the influence of an unknown substance and a full pstchological evaluation.
