I saw it the second time and it wasn't as bad as the first...but no where near expectations :-(...I was really pulling for her too. Even the celebrities there looked puzzled.

It really was bad. I was hoping for an excellent performance and some take-charge attitude (rocking her real hair or something). But, it was lackluster. Where was Criss Angel? Maybe there was a last-minute change of plans that threw her off.

However, I must say, it was an alright performance even though she lip-synched and looked nervous but she could've skipped on the skimpy clothing imo. The entire routine looked like the high school drill/dance team. It was horrible!! She looked bored and lazy and then it would be like she would suddenly realize where she was,try to seem interested & incredible for a second and then fall back into her coma. It was kind of sad to watch. At first I thought it was going pretty badly, and then as it went on, I really started feeling sorry for her. I'm not a "Fan"; I like some of her old stuff, not into the new song, but I will say she has delivered some really awesome VMA performances in the PAST. She did look really nervous and like she really wasn't into it. Her body is looking really good for having two kids (better than me after my two! LOL) but maybe her costume choice wasn't the best. And she really should just go with the short hair until its all grown out...she looks cute with it. She prob could have pulled off some hair like Paris had tonight, which I thought looked really good. I agree, I hope this doesn't push her over the edge. But tonights performance does have me worried for her. : (

Maybe you can blame her crappy lipsyncing on the boots too.

It was pretty good... I think she could have tried to mouth the lyrics a little harder, but hell, its BRITNEY.. anything she does is great. I'm a biased fan ofcourse.

BY THE WAY... if you watch it 2 or 3 times it actually gets a lot better. I think the reason a lot of people don't like it is because the expectations were set WAYYY too high. Watch it again and it's not nearly as bad. I did just that and it's growing on me...

All I have to say is Sarah Silverman should be put in some sort of box and shipped out to sea. Its one thing to make fun of Brit, but bringing her little boys into it is NOT right.

I stared blankly at the screen in shock! I had to ask my husband if I was imagined the performance. Frankly, the entire show was a mess. Everyone seemed high and didn't know what was happening next. Booooooooooooo Boooooooooooo!

It was really. Sad I was so disapointed, I was really excited and rooting for her. AH whatever, im still going to be interested in anything she does I'm just not going to get my hopes up again. And Uh, Sarah Silverman is horrible. Could you imagine Britney hearing that, ecspecially calling her kids mistakes, thats taking it to fare. The whole thing was just sad.

Pathetic but expected. When you behave the way she has over the last few nights when you should be getting ready for something important your bound to crash! She is just so damn dumb. My first thought also was that the boots were severely restricting her performance. But this isn't some girl who has gone out on a stage for the first time. She should have known perfectly well that the boots would have had too high of heels on them, so it is her own fault. She was probably more concerned about trying to look thinner (and to get this illusion to wear higher heels) that she totally screwed up her ability to move properly.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Somewhere, Kevin Federline is laughing. An out-of-shape, out-of-touch Britney Spears delivered what was destined to be the most talked about performance of the MTV Video Music Awards — but for all the wrong reasons.
Kicking off the show Sunday night with her new single, "Gimme More," Spears looked bleary and unprepared, much like her recent tabloid exploits on the streets of Los Angeles. She walked through her dance moves with little enthusiasm. It appeared she had forgotten the entire art of lip-synching. And, perhaps most unforgivable given her once-taut frame, she looked embarrassingly out of shape.
Even the celebrity-studded audience seemed bewildered. 50 Cent looked at Spears with a confused expression; Diddy, her new best friend, was expressionless.

I should have known that Britney Spears' big Video Music Awards performance would have been uncomfortable to watch the moment it opened, with that closeup of the weave tracks in the back of her head (seriously, MTV camera folks, didja think that was a flattering angle?). But I wasn't quite prepared for the awkward mess in store, as Britney gallumphed around like a zombie while lip-synching to her new single, "Gimme More."
But instead of watching a sexy, exciting performance -- a resounding statement that yes, she IS Britney, bitch -- I saw a tentative, confused-looking girl who could barely muster the energy to mouth along with the backing track, let alone work those stilleto boots. I am such a huge Britney fan and lover and couldnt wait for this performance and to be honest I was really disappointed. Which is a really hard thing for me to say because I stood behind her with all of the shit she was going through. But she didnt look like she was into it she barely shook her ass and her body wasnt up to par for that little outfit. That was not the Britney body we all love and know. But I must say on her behalf I hate the presenter that came out and talked shit about her. I cant believe she even said anything about her kids that was so foul I could have climed in the t.v myself and snapped her neck. Im having my first child in April and that really struck a cord in me. And not to mention I saw her crotch shot and it was actually a pretty nice vagina. I think that bitch is jealous because she has an open face bologna sandwhich!!! I love you Britney but if your going to come back them you really need to step it up to what everyone is use to. Its official--Britney Spears is a lost cause. The MTV VMA’s are finally here and the big show is already under way. For the past few weeks there has been a lot of hype surrounding Spears’ supposed ‘comeback’ performance but let’s just say it was less than mediocre. She was wearing heels that she could barely walk in and her performance consisted of her going from one side of the stage to the other in a jeweled bra and panties lip-syncing.
Several sources that had seen Spears’ rehearsals this week said she was great, but her performance during the show didn’t live up to the hype. It was obvious she was really nervous. Criss Angel was supposed to be on stage with Spears as well but he was barely walking across the red carpet during her performance.
Hollyscoop was on the red carpet at the VMA’s and asked the stars if they thought Britney was going to make a comeback and everyone seemed to be really excited and supportive.

She did look nervous. But it was the best of the show. It was a hot performance rom her, and i really liked her outfit. It was hott. She is in great shape, and she will continue to make a comback!

Britney bombed. What was that?! I love love love Britney, but something was up here. It looks like Criss Angel dropped out last minute so Britney had learn a whole new routine at the last minute. I am such a huge Britney fan and lover and couldnt wait for this performance and to be honest I was really disappointed. Which is a really hard thing for me to say because I stood behind her with all of the shit she was going through. But she didnt look like she was into it she barely shook her ass and her body wasnt up to par for that little outfit. That was not the Britney body we all love and know. I didnt like the choreography i felt it didnt match the song. Britney could have choreographed a routine better than that on her own. I felt Britney looked GREAT
not to chubby not to thin I felt she was a perfect size for people to model themselves after. Her hair and make-up were good and I like the blue contacts.

okay... i believe i am one of her biggest fans and i was really rooting for her tonight... i think she was prepared to put on an amazing preformance but something happened to make her upset... she looked like she didn't want to be there... with the rumours about k-fed being in Vegas that makes me wonder as well... i really honestly think she was upset about something and that is why she put on a poor preformance and i don't think we should give up on her just yet!!!!

I still think something happened and her original performance was a no go and she had to throw together something last minute.

THE BIG QUESTION: Why didn't MTV audition Britney before agreeing to let her open the show? Why didn't someone at MTV look at the rehearsal and say "hey, this is seriously fucked up shit, get someone else".

POPWATCH: I should have known that Britney Spears' big Video Music Awards performance would have been uncomfortable to watch the moment it opened, with that closeup of the weave tracks in the back of her head (seriously, MTV camera folks, didja think that was a flattering angle?). But I wasn't quite prepared for the awkward mess in store, as Britney gallumphed around like a zombie while lip-synching to her new single, "Gimme More."

I was really rooting for Britney to be awesome and get the show off on the right foot. And by all rights, she should have rocked -- "Gimme More" has been received amazingly well (it's no "Toxic," but admit it, it's better than you expected) -- and we have all those fond memories of Brit Brit from VMAs past (with the python, with Madonna and Xtina). But instead of watching a sexy, exciting performance -- a resounding statement that yes, she IS Britney, bitch -- I saw a tentative, confused-looking girl who could barely muster the energy to mouth along with the backing track, let alone work those stilleto boots. Britney, if you're gonna lip-synch, at least be entertaining!

What we've learned tonight is really something we've suspected all along. Britney is irresponsible. To make her comeback work she had to (1) get in shape (2) rehearse a lot and (3) meet her obligations to make a great dance number. She did none of these.

SIDE NOTE: The dance routine that Britney did is kind that aging actresses used to do when they appeared on variety shows. Old stars like Mae West, Judy Garland, Marilyn Monroe (when they were all past their prime). Their dances routines merely required them to walk around and be picked up by the other dances. Britney chose a routine that required no dance skill whatsoever, just walking around. Pathetic!

She was, and is, pathetic, pudgey, out of shape. She can't dance worth a shit....couldn't lip synch her own stupid song. I was expecting bad, but this was way worse....I can't believe they let her open the show with her pathetic version of song and dance-is that what it was? She looked like a high schooler practicing some cheerleading routine for the first time. And how professional to cover your mouth and giggle when you make a mistake while lip-synching. Now I just hope she'll have the self-respect to go away for a long time. Her new song sucks, too, BTW.
