I just have one thing to say about the letter that was posted (besides that it was very condescending and presumptuous). It showed absolutely zero compassion for Britney Spears - the human being. The 25 year old woman, the divorced mother of two who has had a pretty insane life since she was a child. The person who none of us really know a damn thing about. Sure, the sugary sweet pop princess was a media created image, but so is this white-trash, washed up pop-star image that is out there right now. It's tabloid fodder, nothing more. None of us have a clue who the "real" Britney is and we never will.

The reason I defend her all the time is because I feel empathy for her, not because I am some brain-dead groupie. I imagine that she must be pretty unhappy to do the things she does. She is like an advertisement for the saying, "Money can't buy happiness". She seems like she needs what all of us need - someone to stand by us and love us unconditionally, someone to trust, someone to care enough to reach out to us during hard times. Without those things, it's no wonder that she is insecure and self-destructive. The only difference between her and the average girl with those qualities is that she has to live her life on camera for the entire world to see. She was just a child when she started out - how could she have ever predicted the kind of impact she would have??

I could care less about her stupid "brand" or if she loses all of her money or if she ever comes out with another album. I am not even a fan of her music really, I never was. I just wish the best for her, like I would anyone who has never done anything to me personally. Not to mention that I am a feminist and I like to stand up for all women. I know a huge part of the reason that she gets such a hard time is because she is a woman. A man would never have to deal with this kind of judgment. I think that Britney has worked hard for her money, even if she had a lot of help, so I don't think it's my place to place any expectations on her. She's an adult and should be given the same respect as anyone else. I don't recall her ever claiming to be perfect.

We are all just people first and foremost and my heart will always go out to Britney. She may have a part of her that enjoys attention and making a spectacle out of herself but she certainly never asked to be treated like a hunted animal 24 hours a day. Aside from maybe Michael Jackson at the height of his fame, I can't think of one other celebrity who has THAT many cameras on them every second of the day. Paparazzi may be the scum of the earth but they do show some people respect. Photos of Britney sell, especially the unflattering ones, so they go the extra mile with her. Despite the many dumb things she has done, which I think any true fan will freely admit about her, she has always seemed like a nice girl - so who are we to judge her and hate her? We should save our contempt for evil criminals or better yet, focus on ourselves and how we can make the world a better place. If you check interview archives of any person who has actually met her - the first thing they always say is that she is really genuine and sweet and down to earth. Why should we assume that all of those people are wrong and that we strangers somehow know her better?

The opposite of love is not hate, it's apathy and that letter was anything but apathetic and that goes for Ruben's tirades about Britney to the press to pimp his new website as well. If any previous fans of hers really have stopped caring - then shut the hell up about her. Stop talking about her.

I've said it many times and I will keep saying it - give Britney a break already. Who the hell knows why she does what she does? Just let her be and she'll learn eventually. If I knew her personally, I would offer some guidance, but I don't so I choose to just wish her well. Maybe she wasn't cut out for this business. Maybe she will squander her fortune. So what??

Awww, Britney looks so adorable! Shout of to the EFG/Hollywood Forums! I am glad she is having a good time AT night, I am sure she is spending the days with the kids and I am glad she has a FRIEND to chill with and seems to be treating her the way she should be treated (so far). I was hoping Britney wouldn't get another man so fast; but He seems to be a friend at this point and if he is more then at least he looks clean and is making Brit smile. I think it's sad that she doesn't care about kids enough to stop drinking and stay home with them for one night. She has been partying for 12 weeks straight. That is disgusting. My feelings about Britney dont stem from a dislike of her music. Hell, if you like her stuff, buy it! If she wasnt a celebrity,just an average woman with an average job, I'd still think she was a fuck up and so would most of you. Think about it. If your neighbor was a young single mother who left her kids with someone else every night so she could go party, I doubt any of you would have anything positive to say about it. To the Britney Fans. It is not her life anymore. She has two new lives that she should be raising and is not. She even said when she had children she was going to raise them herself and would not let nannies raise them at all. She also said having children is the closest thing to God, and that it was her new religion etc. Well she sure does not act like that now. She is not working on her new CD that much, but just sporadically, while she parties most of the time (shows how much she cares about her fans and babies). She blew off two producers already. Her mother is in tears because of her recent behavior. Her family is worried and she has not even gone home on many occasions to her children but stayed in hotels and partied. A lot of her fans, on many websites have told her they are not fans of hers anymore. And some of her biggest supporters and websites are closing down. The first point is easy, run a copyright search and you will find that Britney Spears does not write her own songs. Second, she doesn’t perform live unless you count the use of "pro tools live" and heavy backtracking as a live performance (a true musician and /or singer doesn’t). I wasn’t aware that she plays piano and I suspect if it’s true, it’s in the most rudimentary sense. Just because someone learns to play “smoke on the water”, doesn’t make them Joe Satriani or a true musician. Most people can play one or two simple songs on an instrument that they may have learned when they where a kid. I also checked with a number of online sources for director credits and found none for her, although I did find some Britney fan sites where fans claimed she co-directed "do somethin". Again, those were claims made by fans. I won’t bother checking your facts about record sales because there is no doubt she has been a top earner. It appears the truth seems to discredit your contention that Britney Spears is a "huge talent". It does not; however prove she is not a huge star. What does that mean anyway? These days, huge stars are created by record labels, for record labels, and consist of young girls whose only true talent is looking sexy in tight clothes while dancing around lip synching to songs that were written by others. I would contend that this is the only "talent" she has ever shown. That would explain why her detractors seem to focus on the fact that she can’t make a comeback because she's "pale", "fat", "crippled" and “crazy” now. Her looks are gone so her career is now gone. And that IS the only valid point now.
