About Jamie, he isn't able to do his previous job(s) because he has to watch after Britney and her affairs. Meaning he has not been recieving any income in the past month! Other people have stated an explanation and defense of this conservator salary very well. I'll just add that they are exactly right, that it is money well deserved and probably not enough for the hell this man is going through.

Most people who take on the responsibility of a conservatorship or step in to help out a family member by taking care of their business, health, and finance do not then have the additional and horrific burden of fighting enemies in court, enemies who are trying to do harm to the disabled person. They don't have to struggle with publicity and photographers everywhere they go, and they usually don't have this kind of legal problems such as her ongoing custody situation.

Just under normal circumstances, the conservator job is very demanding. Add all this on to it, and it's got to be a nightmare.

Most parents who are granted conservatorship don't have a adult child who is a mega millionaire international celebrity that is followed by dozens of paps 24/7 and who needs a number of professionals to handle her affairs.

As for rent being absolutely less than $1500 a month - LA is pretty expensive, so unless you know exactly where he's living and what he's paying how could you possibly comment? Just because he's basically stopped his own life to take care of his daughter does not mean he can abdicate his own financial responsibilities as a result. $2500 a week is really reasonable when you compare it to what a professional conservator would charge. Britney made a huge media spectacle about delivering a letter to her mom ordering her to stay away from the kids - as though she were "serving" her mom with legal paperwork. It was ugly.

Basically Britney was behaving like a spoiled self-centered brat - not much different from today, if at all. Oh, excuse me, she's ill (cough cough).

The lawyers are the ones who are charging outrageous fees. Britney even has to pay her ex-husband's lawyer who is in court against HER. But that's the fee schedule for this caliber of attorney.

So even if she protests, I believe she knows this is working for her good.

I would hope that the California Bar is keeping an eye on Eardley. He has a history of trying to file stuff up to the federal courts to stop things on the state level when it doesn't belong there. He's been sanctioned by the court for that before too. (The last time was a real estate case involving his mother-in-law). You're right - this would make a giant mess of conservatorship laws not only in California but in the entire country. That's not something to take lightly, and I have faith that the 9th Circuit is well aware of that. Fortunately, they have ample experience with this guy's shenanigans so I am hopeful he won't get too far with it. The Judge in the conservatorship case just rubberstamps every request. She gives the court appointed Lawyer $58K for a few hours work. He is more Jamie's lawyer, than Briteny's. The Judge WAIVED Briteny's presence at the hearing to extend the conservatorship to July 31. We don't know what Briteny thinks of the situation. We can only go by what they let out to the media. I'm sure Briteny is not allowed to tell the media her true feelings as she fears being locked up in a mental hospital. See TMZ and someone says there's an agreement between Briteny and her Dad that she not rock the boat, or she will be locked up. This conservatorshp will go on until there's no more money. A source close to the songstress tells E! News that Spears has been the recipient of a number of disturbing letters and packages, including at least one letter mentioning "how to bomb" and others containing threatening language and "weird gibberish."

The situation has become so off-putting that Spears' camp is planning to hand the unwelcome mail over to local law enforcement and the FBI, the source said.

Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Officer Ana Aguirre told E! News that no specific investigation has been launched in connection with Spears' postal drama, as yet, but that authorities "have been looking at allegations that have cropped up in the past couple of months."

An FBI spokesperson says the bureau doesn't comment on ongoing investigations.

I am really surprised that nobody is talking about the news over on TMZ. I generally agree with JGlad's position that Brit is really the one who is ultimately responsible for the course that her life has taken. I believe this is true for all adults who have the freedom of choice. But we had a disagreement over Brit's mental health issues ( I simply believe that there is no way anyone acting like her cannot be mentally healthy and she thinks it is a smoke screen). She differs in this line of thinking and we talked about it. No vicious insults were traded by either party and although nothing had changed in our individual positions, we both walked away from that discussion in a calm manner. I understood her position and I believe she understood mine. We don't agree on this particular point, but no harm, no foul! Maybe one of us will change in the future, but I honestly can't say when and if it will ever happen. I don't have a problem with that and I don't think she did either.

My buddy once talked me into going and seeing his psychic and he said it would change my life. As she plied info from me, I just answered directly, but at a minimal pace. By the end, she made a whole bunch of 'predictions' and all of the specific ones were off by a huge measure. A while later, having some understanding of how these things work, my friend watched as I told a bunch of strangers I was a psychic and went thru the motions. Those people were blown away and thought I was absolutely psychic. I just paid attention to their answers and body language in a specific way. It blew my friend away and he and his wife no longer use psychics anymore. I'm not saying it isn't possible to understand certain things. I am just saying that we should be careful. There are many things we simply do not understand. Although it's not the same thing, I know a master healer friend that can focus energy so directly into his hands that he can almost burn you! I do have an inkling of how he does it, but I will never be able to understand it fully myself, nor do I think I could ever do that sort of thing. It is no trick, just an extreme mastery of focus and an understanding of energy.

I can't understand Trope and Trope's bill of $600,000 for doing nothing really. Kaplan's fees will have to be paid by law, but it will have to be a reasonable amount. The judge will decide if that much is warranted. It does seem like an outrageous amount but these are all high priced lawyers.

9:14 that is interesting if you break it down. Trope and Trope was 600,000 Kaplan 500,000. Seven Thousand per day of legal fees does seem odd. If you split it evenly between the two, and assuming they bill 500.00 per hour, that would mean each individual lawyer put in 7 hours per day on this case. Of course, we do not know what the extra costs were (ie photocopying, process serving, filing fees, etc.) but I find it REALLY hard to believe that they worked that much per day on this case.

Trope and Trope's bill was higher because of all the time they invested into the case TRYING to work with Britney. Remember that they would have had far more telephone conversations, personal visits, court appearances, time spent preparing and filing motions, etc. than Kaplan because of all the hearings Britney requested and then failed to show up for herself. Their bill is far more likely to be "real time" than Kaplan's, if you compare the work each firm had to do.

Her lawyers had to spend time preparing her for her depos (whereas Kaplan would have invested less prep time), her lawyers had to prepare and file the motions for emergency hearings (whereas again Kaplan would have had less prep time) not to mention countless hours trying to get her to cooperate with the smallest of things. Trope and Trope were not her original lawyers and would have spent considerable time getting up to speed on the matter, whereas Kevin retained Kaplan from the start and stayed with him. Lawyers of the caliber in this case, and in LA, probably charge $800-$1000+ an hour and they would double that if they have to appear in court. Rememebr they have staff and operating expenses they have to pay for also and still make a profit for themslves. With all the times that Britney's lawyers have called court dates, depostiions, and etc. of which she didn't show up I am sure the charges grew quite quickly. This isn't some simple custody case. This is a celebrity custody case and the one that is causing all the delays and do over has been Britney herself - not Kfed. He was fine with the custody arrangement the way it was until she started acting erratically - was he not supposed to fight for the children?
The law has always allowed for the one that makes less money and who is not causing all the court dates to have their attorney fees paid - this is not a new revelation, and since she is so wealthy he is allowed to hire an attorney at the same caliber so that he has as equal a chance in court. He is only getting $15k a month in child support, considering her income that is not much and he has not asked for more. Look at what some of the other big celebrities pay in child support. Are her children ot worthy of a lifestyle at both homes that she has in hers? That is why there is child support, because they are worthy of living the same lifestyle in both homes regardless of the one with less salary being able to provide it. That is just the way it is - and it has been like that for years and years. Kfed deserves to have Britney pay for his attorney fees, she caused him to have them in the first place with her antics. The girl has to at some point start being responsible for her actions, she is an adult.
