Well he is the father who according to Michael, beat him if he didn't perform. Poor Michael didn't really stand a chance. I was raised by a brutalizing father so I know how much that will destroy a person, especially a person as sensitive as MJ.

This is the man who beat the living daylights out of Michael, when he was a child. This wasn't a father, but a tyrant. Many of Michael's problems as an adult orginated from this man who physically and psychologically abused Michael.

I agree. When my father died, it was truly the darkest day of my life. I laughed with friends and family to ease my pain a bit. That is what family and friends are there for, to help ease the pain if only for a moment and let you know they care. Yes I laughed, but I was still dying inside. So so painful

I lost my mother, my father and my stepdad all within a very short period of time. I laughed at the completely wrong moments, I laughed from lack of sleep due to my despair.... I cried so hard in private I could not cry at the funerals or when others would. Please do not judge. The hardest part was watching others judge me for my lack of crying.... all that was expected of me from those that were never in my shoes. I still feel hurt from the lack of understanding.

There is no normal way to grieve, and I've been throught it many times. I also have to say if you watch your loved ones slowly die through cancer... or through self hurt, addiction after a while you feel almost numb from grieving already for so long. You become almost disconnected for self preservation.

We were sitting in the funeral home for my husbands uncles'funerala few years ago.. .Every one was crying, I sat way back as I have a strange fear of dead bodies.. ( it a germ-a-phobe thing ) Well it was quiet all you could hear was sniffling every one was sitting with their heads down... suddenly the silence was shattered by a loud booming sound... The sound of one of my husband's younger cousins' farting it was so loud it felt as if the place shook.. slowly you could see the bodies of everyone sitting in the pews start to shake as the laughfter exlpoded out we could not stop laughing ! The poor kid was embarrassed.. We still tell that story.. it was real funny and I think we needed a good laugh!! There now tell me we were laughing at an inopertune time X17! I agree that Michael's father was very horrible to him in his growing up years but we dont know how things were recently before his passing. we all need to do our homework and listen better and follow the news to see the outcomes and annalize carefully what you read in the media as some of it is 'hyped up' for publicity. this is also what caused alot of anguish to Michael's life....may he rest in peace!! which I feel he is not suffering anymore.....we all have lots to learn from his life and experiences....we all need to re-examine our way of thinking and behaving....life is too short!! Michael was a unique person who gave so much to the world, not only his unique talent of song and dance but a huge unique character (who was rebelous to the way society behave and think, which got him into trouble) he had an innocent child like attitude....since he didnt have a childhood, he wanted it as an adult and share what he could with children. When people are in shock their reactions are often extreme and dramatic. Jesse might have reminded Joe of some funny tidbit and his reaction may have been over the top due to extreme stress and grief. Joe wasn't a great guy, we know that. But this photo doesn't tell the whole story.

And I love how everyone believes Michael about the abuse, but Joe was never convicted. But most of you don't believe the kids about Michael. Which is it? yeesh.

No the photo DOES tell the whole story. When interviewed at the BET awards about how he's holding up, he told the reporter that he's "Great!" and then went on to pimp his new record company. The guy is scum.

I believe people handle grief in different ways, sometimes privately and sometimes it hits people later.

However, (based on Michael's account in video interviews) I do believe Joe was an abusive monster who exploited his own children (the Jackson 5/Michael) for financial gain. Yes, he helped create a better future for the family then they otherwise likely would have had, but at what price? Michael's childhood fear of his father manifested in his life in tragic ways, however Michael's genius and love for humanity could not be repressed.

I recently read that until his death Michael had paying the mortgage for his parent's house. If true, that means he probably helped support them the span of his entire life career. In some ways, it appears Joe is trying to attach himself to Michael's spotlight to further exploit. Joe is a pathetic man who deserves little, if no credit for the shining star Michael became. Michael's character stood far above that of his father and he will be remembered for the gifts he gave the world.

Regarding the chidren, he should have asked Lisa Presley, Madona, Liz Taylor to be their guardians. That's where he belonged and surely his kids belong with them.

I'm a black woman but this is too crazy for a man who didn't like his black father to end up having his kids deal with the senile Joe. And hopefully sweet Grandma does not preach to them about the End of Days in 2 years when Michael may emerge or never emerge from that grave.

This country need to have better laws to protect children who have no biological parents or who find themselves in this situation. Forget about Michael's money. Look for a white family that will foster/adopt the children -- a setting that's normal.
As it is, we just have to keep praying Grandma Kathleen at least lives for another ten years -- which is possible with that money.

And living with Gramps the kids may fall in love with some black relatives of Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton. Wath Micheal coming out of that grave like Thriller to get them all.
