Where did this Airstream come from, who did the restoration? Is that cover on the back of the trailer a toy miniature Airstream?
That trailer was a custom job done by GSM Vehicles in Plattsburgh, NY. If you think the outside is beautiful, you should be lucky enough to see the work inside, it is beautiful, GSM Vehicles stands alone in their field of restoring, refurbishing and repairing Airstream trailes and then some!
That cover is a custom made generator cover made by GSM Vehicles, designed by the owner Morley Smith. They custom makes those in shop.
what's with the scarf on his head. It looks so stupid.
Airstreams are not designed to have that kind of weight on the back end that way. The action of the weight will cause the shell to break free of the chassis......
That airstream has a completely new and reinforced frame, I'm quite certain it is up to the task of carrying the weight off the rear bumper
I picked this trailer up about 4 years ago and towed it to GSM Vehicles in Plattsburgh, NY... of course it's alot different than when I towed it up there. His trailer originated from Bat Cave, NC, the same place our 58 came from! Looks good Matt! Some of my interior was used as a mock up of the interior in this one when it was under construction.
Yea, don't worry about the extra weight on the back end. It was beefed up, as was Rob's and mine and others, I'm sure. I understand they did some mock-up in Rob's SOTR and in my '56 for a preliminary layout while they were working on Matt's floor plan. It was pretty impressive and convinced me to alter my rather lame original (well, non-original concept.
It was found by a guy named Richard in Bat Cave, I read about it in Airstream Life.

This is the second new Airstream he has picked up in two months. The other one was a brand new custem job from a company in Denver. It was huge and way cool.
