She could have gone outside to take a smoke. I used to be a smoker and smoking around my kids was not acceptable. I don't care who you are regardless of race, creed, or in this case popularity, second hand smoke can kill. Yes I know it was outside on a patio, but that child is obviously in close enough proximity to breath in the smoke. I am not a britney fan. mostly because i am old old old and old. Did i mention old? She does look good and i wish that i had her legs. I have been reading message boards for several years and reading others nasty comments about spears for about as long. i have come to the conclusion that nasty comments are motivated by jealousy, and that the jealous use her celebrity status and any mistake she makes to tear her apart any chance they get. It's not about law and whether she can legally smoke around her children, but with all of the research about second hand smoke and the effects on small children and thier lung development, it is just a bad choice. Is she a criminal? No, but as parents, there is always room for improvement. And believe me, it may not be posted on the internet, but for all of you who are seen smoking around your children, many of us wish you would do it when they are not around because even though it is your legal choice, it is not your kids'.

Be that as it may, I am a mother of 2 grown children, and I am a smoker. Both my children dislike smoking, and always have. my kid is around 2 years old and if i leave anything laying around including my cigs he will pick them up, they're just in a curious stage that's how kids are it has nothing to do with bad or good parenting, right now that's fine, the point when you have to worry is if he actually has one in his mouth!!

I'm not a Britney fan, but I am proud of the progress she's made. As a parent myself, I don't smoke around my kids, but I don't look down on those that do. I think given the crap she's been through and is overcoming, THIS is the least of the problems since i was outside and NOT in the house or a car with the windows rolled up.
