Joel Silver, Lionel Wigram, Susan Downey and Dan Lin are producing the film, which begins shooting in October. The film is based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic literature, but also on the comic book Sherlock Holmes.

Friends star Courteney Cox will be joining the cast of Scrubs for a three-episode run as Sacred Heart's new Chief of Medicine, according to Entertainment Weekly. Back in May, executive producer Bill Lawrence revealed to EW that he was looking to "stunt cast" the character who would be playing the chief of medicine, and according to an insider close to the show, Cox will "ruffle feathers," in the upcoming season.
