The Dark Knight Is Still Number One

LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - The Dark Knight held on to the number one spot at the box office this weekend, and took in an additional $75.6 million, bringing it's total domestic earnings to a staggering $312.4 million in just ten days.
The film's weekend earnings gave it the best second weekend gross in box office history, beating out Shrek 2's previous record of $72.2. Additionally, it is the fastest film to hit the $300 million domestic gross, in just ten days. The previous record holder, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest took 13 days to reach the $300 million mark.
Step Brothers took the number two spot with $30 million, while Mama Mia snagged the number three spot and earned an additional $17.8 million this weekend.
