This year's red carpet didn't disappoint with many stars looking beautiful and glamourous, with just a few of the inevitable "what was their stylist thinking" fashion faux pas.

Best Supporting Actress winner Penelope Cruz was just one of the women who made white the color of the night.

Best Actor Nominee Mickey Rourke was one of the few men who showed some flair on the red carpet, wearing a white wool tux by John Paul Gaultier.

Cruz looked stunning in a vintage Pierre Balmain halter dress she discovered at a consignment store. "I thought, some day I will come back and get this dress for something very special. And I came back to the place and I asked for the dress and it was still there and it still fit. So I do have a love affair with this dress,” Cruz told the LA Times.

Hollywood's golden couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie bucked the white trend by wearing black. Pitt work a slim cut tuxedo by Tom Ford, while Jolie wore and elegant, strapless gown by Elie Saab.
