"Angels & Demons" Takes Weekend Box Office

AngelsTomHanks200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Tom Hanks' thriller "Angels & Demons" took the top spot at this weekend's box office. The follow-up to "The Da Vinci Code" earned an estimated $48 million in its opening weekend.

"Star Trek" remained strong in its second week of release, bringing in another $43 million for second place. The JJ Abrams directed film has now earned more than $148 million in two weeks of release.

Another strong box office veteran, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" earned a respectable $14.8 milion - good enough for third place.

"Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" and "Obsessed" rounded out the top five, with $6.8 million and $4.5 million in ticket sales.
