Former Female Letterman Staffer Claims She Quit Over Affairs
(10/27/09 10:05 AM)
LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - One of the very few female writers on the staff of Late Night With David Letterman revealed the reason she quit the talk show almost two decades ago was because of the sexually charged atmosphere.
Nell Scovell wouldn't name names or dates in her piece for Vanity Fair, but she says what led her to ultimate quit her "dream job" after less than a season was because she felt the affairs Dave and other high-level male execs were having with female employees created a "hostile work environment."
"Was I aware of the rumor that Dave was having sexual relationships with female staffers? Yes. Was I aware that other high-level male employees were having sexual relationships with female staffers? Yes. Did these female staffers have access to information and wield power disproportionate to their job titles? Yes. Did that create a hostile work environment? Yes. Did I believe these female staffers were benefiting professionally from their personal relationships? Yes. Did that make me feel demeaned? Completely. Did I say anything at the time? Sadly, no."
Nell said the her last day on the show, Dave, who never hit on her, summoned her to his office to ask why she was leaving. "I considered telling him the truth, but with Dave’s rumored mistress within earshot, I balked. Instead, I told him I missed L.A. Dave said, 'You’re welcome back anytime.'”

and the stupid hussy waited TWO decades to tell the world because?...........
She should just shut her trap and get a life!
I agree. If she didn't have the guts to deal with the situation back then, she should leave it alone. What is she looking to gain now?
That's it... blame the victim. When have ANY of you ever stood up for yourselves at your job? NEVER.
This writer is courageously coming forward to show that Letterman and the senior execs have always been sexual predators.
she is probably looking to gain closure to the traumatic experience she had. Coming clean is always a good idea and never too late. Being in a situation like that, and not telling, is like being part of the crime. By coming forth, she has gotten rid of the skeleton in her closet
Victim of what? Not being attractive enough to have Dave hit on her?
The whole story is ridiculous. Workplaces become every bit as "hostile" because some play golf and others don't.
The first year on a job with the 'mistress' within ear shot - that employee didn't stand a chance. She'd be blacklisted around town by the chick in the affair. Better to just start over somewhere else.
Oh my gosh. To blame this woman for coming forward two decades later shows that, in America, sexism still runs rampant and that people really don't "get it." She would have been so targeted had she come forward when the events occurred. Where was the power here? It was with Letterman and the senior execs. Their abuse of power has been appalling. I've lost a tremendous amount of respect for Letterman over this. Just when you think someone in show buz is different, you find out he's just like the other sexist pigs who can't keep their pants on.
