Kirsten Dunst Wins Best Actress In Cannes

kdunst051811_01_X17200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Kirsten Dunst was awarded the best actress prize at the 64th Cannes Film Festival Sunday after weathering the scandal surrounding director Lars von Trier's Nazi comments during a press conference earlier in the week.

The 29-year-old actress stars in von Trier's drama Melancholia, a film about two sisters who find their relationship challenged as the world heads toward apocalypse.

The big award of the night, the Palme d'Or went to The Tree of Life which starred Brad Pitt and Sean Penn.

Other winners were Jean Dujardin for The Artist, Nicolas Winding Refn for Drive, Joseph Cedar for Footnote and the film Polisse picked up the Jury Prize.

Jury members included Robert DeNiro, Uma Thurman and Jude Law.
