The cast boasts many big names, including Mila Kunis as the witch Theodora, James Franco as circus magician-turned-future-Wizard Oscar Diggs, Rachel Weisz as Theodora's sister Evanora, Michelle Williams as Glinda the Good Witch and Zach Braff as Oscar's assistant.

Braff will also be the voice of the winged monkey Finley, one of the movie's CGI creatures who guides Franco's character through Oz.

The upcoming flick, directed by Sam Raimi, is filming at the new Raleigh Studios in Pontiac, Mich.

The new movie focuses on how the Wizard of Oz came to be. It features Franco as Oscar, a shady small-time circus assistant, who gets whisked from Kansas to the Land of Oz. He's stopped by three witches (Kunis, Weisz and Williams) who don't believe he's the great wizard everyone else has been waiting for. In the end, Oscar transforms himself into not just a better person but the great Wizard of Oz.

Oz The Great and Powerful is expected to hit theaters March 8, 2013.
