mtv_200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (x17online) - The MTV Movie Awards will undergo a series of changes that will include an anonymous "academy" of voters and new categories.

The popular award show, which airs on June 3, is set to revamp its itinerary starting with implementing an "academy" of actors, producers, agents as well as other industry insiders to vote on nominees, which includes a “breakthrough performance” award directors will vote on. This move, which is similar to the one used for the Video Music Awards, is designed to help broaden the nominees, winners and lend credibility to the oft criticized event.

Category changes for the award show will also take place, with ones like "Best Villian" and "Best Jaw Dropping Moment" will be replaced with "Best Music" and "Best Cast" and a host of others.

“We want to make sure some of the unexpected, smaller, quirkier films have a chance,” MTV president Stephen Friedman said.
