Katalyst and production company Soda and Pop, Inc. filed a suit Tuesday claiming they are owed at least $1.44 million in damages for breach of contract.

In 2010, Katalyst negotiated a deal with the DMV for a reality series featuring employees and patrons. After securing a deal with TruTV, they say the DMV "abruptly and without justifiable excuse, changed course," according to the suit.

In response, DMV deputy director Mike Marando told Katalyst that they no longer considered the series to be in its "best interests" and would therefore "not be moving forward on such a project."
