Late last month, Rhonda Holmes' law firm issued a subpoena to Cobain in order to follow up on comments she made about her mother's behavior.

Cobain claims she was in the custody of her grandmother and aunt and had no contact with Love during her Twitter tirade against Frederic Gordon, Holmes' partner. She is seeking a protective order to avoid court and is looking to sanction Gordon & Holmes.

Love is close to becoming the first celebrity to stand trial in the U.S. for statements made on Twitter. She suggested her lawyers took a bribe after they refused to represent her in her last defamation case, tweeting, "I was f---ing devastated (sic) when Rhonda J Holmes Esq of San Diego was bought off."
