The actor bought shares of the oil-separating device after the April 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, and claims Costner convinced him to sell shortly before inking a massive deal with the oil company.

Costner, who chose not to settle, narrowly avoided having to pay $17 million in damages, and thanked the jury for their unbias assessment of the situation.

"My name means more to me than money and that's why we didn't settle," he said in a statement after the verdict was handed down. Baldwin's attorney wasn't pleased with the decision, saying, "The jury saw it a different way but we respect the jury's verdict."
