Britney and Kevin On the Rocks ...

No ring? Well, the engagement band's there, but ...

My guess is that Britney and Kevin aren't just experiencing a "rough patch" as some people like to call it ... these two are headed for a break up! We were watching Brit in Vegas last week as she stayed at the Venetian, going for spa treatments and partying at Tao. And our photogs are speculating that Britney wasn't just "getting her groove on" in Vegas as much as she was getting away from Kevin and competing with his single party life back in LA.

Don't forget, these people play out their marital troubles in the press and they're always thinking about how to use the media to hurt each other when they're fighting.

Here are the facts ...

Britney was chillin' in Vegas while Kevin was back in LA partying almost every night. He took two pals and three girls clubbing one night and then was out three other nights with just the guys, including his appearance at Kitson where he flirted with a mystery blond.

Sources tell us Kevin has taken his own apartment in the Valley complex where his pals live. We saw movers carrying stuff up to the unit on Friday. In fact, even just after the birth of Sutton Pierce (which may not really be the baby's name?), Kevin was spending the night with his pals and was at his and Brit's Malibu home maybe only 75% of the time.

Either these two have Bill and Hilary beat for the most post-modern relationship yet or Britney and Kevin are in trouble ...
