The actor recently took on another directing venture with Into the Wild, a true story about a college grad who gives his entire life savings ($24,000) to charity and abandons his normal life to hitchhike to Alaska. Hmm, a character that defies social norms in search of his own independence? Sounds a little like Penn himself!
