Sampling may be one of the biggest trends to take effect in the decades since the Beatles stopped making music, but they've never allowed so much as a single second of their songs to be used - until today! The online hipster music publication Pitchfork Media is reporting that the band has allowed seminal rap group the Wu-Tang Clan to sample "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" for their forthcoming album 8 Diagrams, thus making the Wu the first act in entertainment to license anything from the Fab Four. Sounds like we've got yet another reason to get excited about 8 Diagrams - as if a new Wu-Tang album wasn't reason enough on its own!
It's worth remembering that this isn't the first time a Wu-Tang member's tried to clear a Beatles sample - in fact, the "While My Guitar..." sample itself had shown up on unofficial mixtapes promoting Ghostface Killah's 2006 album Fishscale!
