Day one of Britney's trial for driving without a license is over. Closing arguments are expected to begin tomorrow morning.Britney Spears will not take the stand tomorrow, despite her attorney's wish that she do so. Britney's attorney says she won't be in court because tomorrow is her day to spend with her sons, Sean and Jayden.
Testimony in the misdemeanor case concluded this afternoon after Britney's father, Jaime, took the stand.
The jury heard arguments from both sides about whether or not Britney considered Louisiana to be her home state. If the defense can prove Britney never intended to make California her permanent home, that would exempt her from the prosecution's charges that Spears was in violation of the law for not a having a valid California driver's license.
However, prosecutors argued that Britney's home is in California, since she has bought and sold several homes in the state, given birth to two children here and obtained a divorce in the state as well.
Britney's attorney also attempted to prove that the pop star did try to obtain a California driver's license several month's before she side-swiped a parked car.
J. Michael Flanagan says the DMV failed to take Britney's picture for a new license in April, 2007 because the DMV employees were bothered by paparazzi who were following the singer.
The case could go to the jury as early as tomorrow afternoon.
