MTV announced today that they have officially greenlit "The City," a new reality show starring The Hills hottie Whitney Port! Cameras will follow Whitney as she moves from LA to Manhattan and starts her new job with fashion legend Diane Von Furstenberg. Whitney will be reunited with a best friend from her past and she'll even find a new love interest as she adjusts to life in The Big Apple.
Whitney said in a statement, "I am thrilled and honored to be in New York City, not only working for one of the most renowned fashion designers, Diane Von Furstenberg, but to be able to mature as a young woman both professionally and personally."
Tony DiSanto, Executive Vice President of Series Development & Programming at MTV added, "Just as 'The Hills' organically evolved out of Laguna Beach, following the story of Lauren Conrad as she broke out of her protective bubble at home and moved to Los Angeles to make it on her own, we are now following another compelling character. Now it's Whitney's turn. We're bringing you her story as she leaves Los Angeles to break into the exciting Mecca of the fashion world, New York City. She is someone the viewers have grown to love; she's confident, smart and truly someone to root for as she strives to take Manhattan!"
"The City" is created by Adam DiVello. DiVello, Sean Travis and Liz Gateley will serve as executive producers, and the show is slated to air in early 2009.
