We knew it would only be a matter of time before one of the Simpsons spoke out about Jessica's recent (and very noticeable) weight gain, and Ashlee has taken to her MySpace Celebrity blog to share her thoughts on the matter. In a post titled, "Since when did a woman's weight become newsworthy..." Ashlee writes:

I am completely disgusted by the headlines concerning my sister's weight. A week after the inauguration and with such a feeling of hope in the air for our country, I find it completely embarrassing and belittling to all women to read about a woman's weight or figure as a headline on Fox News.

All women come in different shapes, sizes, and forms and just because you're a celebrity, there shouldn't be a different standard.

Is this something you would say to your wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, or even a friend?

    I seriously doubt it.

How can we expect teenage girls to love and respect themselves in an environment where we criticize a size 2 figure?

Now can we focus on the things that really matter.

I'm all for loving your body and being healthy, but if you have a little extra jello jiggling around, don't bounce around onstage in a skintight tank and a waist belt that make you look 15 pounds heavier than you really are! The outfit was the problem that most of us had with Jessica - NOT her weight. And Ash, if my mom, sister or BFF stepped out of the house in a getup like that, I WOULD tell them to change! Someone should have had the balls to tell Jess that her clothes weren't flattering, and if she didn't listen - well, that's her fault.

And a size 2? Is Ash really going to try and pull a J. Love here? We don't know who in the Simpson family is a size 2 right now! Look, the point is, we're not calling Jessica fat, and we're sure she's somewhere around a size 4 or 6 (which is MUCH smaller than the size of the average American woman), but she needs to be more conscious of what she's wearing. If Victoria Beckham miraculously gained 50 pounds, do you think she'd wear the same things she does now? No!
