Shrink Calls Joaquin "Mentally Ill", Phoenix's Rep Calls Shrink "Inappropriate"

Whether you think Joaquin's bearded rapper bit is a prank, the result of drug abuse or due to mental illness, one thing we can all agree on is the fact that somethin' just ain't right.

A Chicago psychiatrist who analyzed Phoenix' behavior on Letterman (and condemned Stiller's bad-taste joke about it on the Oscars) thinks it's way more than just drugs...he thinks Joaquin could be schizophrenic.

Psychiatrist Paul Dobransky told the LA Times, "There is something wrong. And it's beyond drug abuse."

Joaquin's publicist fired back to MTV News, saying, "How absolutely inappropriate for a doctor who has no personal interaction or relationship with someone to diagnose them. And to do so in a public forum. Hope they spelled his name right. Another 15-minute 'expert' is born!"

Hey, it doesn't take a doctor to see that Phoenix is seriously effed up. But is it drugs? Or mental illness?
