Can Lindsay Fill Katie's Shoes?

A few weeks ago we told you that Lindsay will be returning to the big screen in an Alice In Wonderland-type comedy about a grad student (yeah, Lindsay's playing a grad student) who encounters an island of eccentrics in fantasy-comedy indie film called The Other Side.

Now E! is reporting that Lindsay's role was originally intended for Katie Holmes!

Both of these ladies have had hits and misses in the acting department...but do you think Katie would have been a bit more believable in the role? Or will Lindsay make this the comeback that I Know Who Killed Me and Labor Pains was supposed to be?
