gaga072909_02x.jpg MTV has announced that Lady Gaga will join the already impressive list of VMAs performers that includes Green Day, Pink, Taylor Swift, Jay-Z and Muse. Gaga tells MTV, "I'm simply gutted to be both a performer and nominee at the 2009 VMAs. In fact, I'm so happy, I could die."

Yay! So are we! We can't wait to see what sort of over the top performance she has planned! And she's nominated for nine awards, so we're also looking forward to some um, interesting acceptance speeches too.

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards will air live on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 9pm...we'll def be watching!
