sweetvalleyhighnumber1.jpg We loved Juno, we're seeing Jennifer's Body tonight (can't wait!) and now The Hollywood Reporter says that Oscar-winning scribe Diablo Cody and Universal PIctures are in negotiations to pick up the rights to Sweet Valley High!

Cody will write the script and produce with Mason Novick and Marc Platt, and when Cody and Novick pitched it last week, they caused a bidding war that involved Fox 2000 and Mandate. Interesting!

The series was created by Francine Pascal in 1983, and over 150 books have been published, with the final novel hitting bookshelves in January of 2003. The beloved series follows two teenage twins, Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield, who lived in the fictional town of Sweet Valley, California. We haven't read the books in a long time, but we're sure Diablo can bring them back to life with her superior literary skills!
